WiseGeek’s “Wisest Buys” Awards: Top 3 Weighted Blankets of 2021
When it comes to comparing options for making an important purchase, the sheer amount of choice can be overwhelming. With hundreds of conflicting Amazon reviews for every product and review websites that offer competing advice about which products actually work, it can feel like an uphill battle to find reliable information on which to base your purchase decision.
Here at WiseGeek, we’d like to make this process a little easier by presenting our annual Wisest Buys Awards. Each year, we select our favorite products in a number of popular categories.
Our team of reviewers has tested the most popular weighted blankets, coming to our own conclusions about which product is the absolute best.

The CoolZen Cooling Weighted Blanket was our team’s favorite out of all the weighted blankets we tried. Even the most skeptical among us came around to seeing the incredible benefits of a weighted blanket – as long as it’s a good one.
The CoolZen is exactly what a weighted blanket should be. It’s incredibly well made, with tough stitching and durable zippers that will hold up to constant use. The filling of the CoolZen consists of tiny glass microbeads, which are evenly distributed in multiple layers throughout the blanket in quilted chevron pockets, cleverly preventing them from bunching up or shifting to the edges. These microbeads are incredibly quiet, so you won’t hear them when you shift positions.
At 60”x80” and 15 lbs, the CoolZen is an ideal size and weight for nearly any adult. It’s heavy enough so that you feel snug and secure, but not so heavy that you feel pinned or confined. And for those who prefer a heavier blanket, it’s also available in 20-lb and 25-lb versions.
Best of all, this is one of the few weighted blankets that doesn’t trap a huge amount of body heat. The CoolZen is remarkably breathable and actually stays cool all night long. The blanket also comes with a luxuriously plush cover made from soft minky fabric, which is ideal for colder nights, and can easily be removed and washed when needed.

#2 Quility Weighted Blanket

The Quility weighted blanket was also very popular with our review team, and the wide variety of customization options made it particularly appealing. The Quility is available in weights from 5 lbs (for children) all the way up to 30 lbs (for large adults or couples), and in a range of sizes to fit any bed, or as a throw blanket for the couch. The blanket itself is grey cotton, and comes with a washable minky fabric cover in colors such as aqua, navy, ivory, and pink. The fabrics are surprisingly breathable, especially considering their thickness. The cover also has soft raised bumps with a pleasant feel, which are presumably intended to calm and soothe.
A good-quality weighted blanket tends to be quite a pricey purchase, but the Quility is one of the more affordable brands we encountered. Like the CoolZen, the Quility weighted blanket contains glass microbeads instead of plastic pellets. For the most part, these beads remain spread out across the entire blanket and are relatively quiet.

The Rocabi weighted blanket is another great product that met all of our criteria for a weighted blanket. Although it’s a somewhat expensive product, it’s clearly made with care and attention to detail. Our team was particularly pleased with how well the Rocabi conforms to your body, providing a comforting, weighty feeling while still allowing you to shift positions in bed, even when you’re sharing as a couple. The glass microbeads in the Rocabi do a fantastic job providing gentle, all-over pressure, and we were pleased to note that they don’t clump very much. An occasional, gentle fluffing of the blanket is enough to ensure that they remain evenly distributed.
The Rocabi weighted blanket is available in a 60”x80” size and a 80”x86” size, which are ideal for queen and king-sized beds, respectively, and in weights of 15 lbs, 20 lbs, 25 lbs, and 30 lbs. The Rocabi can be purchased with an additional organic cotton cover or a plush minky cover, or both, if you want to have options for any time of the year.
