Lincoln Technical Institute is an educational organization in the US that offers employment preparation skills and technical training. The school was started in 1946 to provide work skills to veterans returning from World War II. By 2009, Lincoln Technical Institute has grown to include 41 campuses spread over 17 US states. The school offers diploma and certificate programs as well as two-year associate and four-year bachelor degrees. All applicants must have either a high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate to be accepted to Lincoln Technical Institute schools.

The career preparation programs at Lincoln Technical Institute include hands-on technical training by industry professionals. Popular programs include automotive repair, construction trades, and computer training. Medical degrees are also popular at Lincoln Technical Institute schools, and students can choose from programs ranging from medical billing to physician's assistant training. During the 21st century, the school expanded its offerings even further to include cosmetology courses and culinary arts training.

The programs at Lincoln Technical Institute offer several important benefits to students. Courses are offered full-time, part-time, evening, or weekend, making the programs very flexible for students who have other commitments such as families or jobs. The hands-on aspect of the school is a powerful alternative for students who have trouble with traditional learning environments. The training at Lincoln Technical Institute is geared towards job preparation skills, with the goal of helping students find jobs quickly after graduation.

To increase flexibility and opportunity for students, Lincoln Technical Institute added an online educational component called Lincoln College Online. Students can earn bachelors or associates degrees without ever setting foot inside a classroom. All lectures are provided online, and interactive discussions take place via message boards and chat rooms. Students can take exams and submit all assignments online as well, making this a convenient option for students with tight schedules. Online offerings include business management, criminal justice, computer, and medical degrees

Lincoln Technical Institute has been accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS). Because of this accreditation, students are eligible for federal financial aid, including grants and federal loans. The application process for aid is similar to that of a traditional college. Students must complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year, and appropriate loans and grants will be awarded based on the applicants income and need. Approximately 99% of Lincoln Technical Institute students receive some form of financial aid each year.
