When faced with the task of how to make something tasty using leftover brisket, the key is to identify other ingredients to incorporate into the recipe to make a tasty entrée. Including pasta and a range of grilled or cooked vegetables can make it possible to stretch even a small amount of leftover brisket into a meal is satisfying and also has a great presentation. Best of all, many of these dishes can be created using ingredients found in most kitchen pantries.

One approach to using leftover brisket is to chop the remaining brisket into small cubes or sections, then prepare a sauce using fresh tomatoes, herbs and spices. Add the cubes of brisket to the sauce, and allow the combination to simmer. If desired, add cut sections of fresh vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower, and snow peas, allowing them to cook until they are done through but still slightly crisp. Pour the whole thing over a bed of pasta and pair with a garden salad and some breadsticks for a meal that is flavorful and relatively fast.

It is also possible to create quick and easy barbecue sandwiches using the leftover brisket. Shred the remaining brisket and then simmer the meat in some brand of store bought barbecue sauce. Typically, simmering for 15 to 20 minutes is enough to allow the flavor of the sauce and the brisket to mingle. Spoon the mixture onto hamburger buns and serve with a side of potato salad for a meal that is filling and likely to please anyone who likes a simple meal revolving around meat and potatoes.

It is even possible to use leftover brisket in a simple and quick casserole. In fact, the casserole can be made with the brisket and a few cans of food found in most pantries. Cube the leftover brisket, then add in a can of mixed vegetables with the water drained. Stir in a can of cream of mushroom soup. If desired, add some chopped onion and a little cooked rice to add texture to the casserole. Pour the combination into a casserole dish and bake until the top is slightly browned. Remove from the oven long enough to add some french fried onions as a topping, then place back into the oven for a minute or two, allowing the onions to brown. This recipe usually takes less than 30 minutes and is ideal for a light lunch or dinner, especially when paired with a garden salad.
