Desserts prepared on a barbeque grill are often served at cookouts, outdoor parties, and picnics. Some popular homemade bbq desserts are grilled pound cake, and fruit kabobs grilled on skewers. S'mores are a popular summertime treat that may be prepared on a barbecue grill. Variations may include chopped nuts, although these bbq desserts are typically made with graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate.

When making s'mores on a grill, some prefer to substitute graham crackers with chocolate chip cookies. Large sugar cookies may also be used for making s'mores. As a variation of traditional s'mores, marshmallows, chocolate chips, and peanut butter can be sandwiched between the cookies.

Although traditional desserts are typically baked in the oven, bbq desserts are an alternative during summer. Many prefer to grill fresh fruit, and peaches are a popular choice. Peaches may be cut in half, then sprinkled with a brown sugar and cinnamon mix. If desired, blueberry sauce may be poured over the fruit. Before being placed on a barbecue grill, the peaches will be wrapped in aluminum foil.

Caramelized peach cobbler can also be prepared on a grill. The halved peaches may be sprinkled with brown sugar and cinnamon, then grilled on a coated rack for about 10 minutes. When grilling the caramelized peaches, it's best to cover them to prevent messy splatters. Cobbler bbq desserts may be served with ice cream and topped with granola.

Grilled apples may also be caramelized. The apples need to be peeled and cored before the center is filled with a mixture of sugar and cinnamon. As an alternative, caramel sauce may be used for the glaze.

Pineapple is another fruit often used for making bbq desserts. Grilled pineapple with rum and nutmeg is prepared with fresh pineapple cut into rings. Cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg can be used for caramelizing the dessert. This pineapple dessert is popular for Hawaiian themed barbecue parties.

Children often enjoy grilled banana bbq desserts when camping or cooking out. Banana boats are bbq desserts made with unpeeled bananas that are cut lengthwise and filled with sweets. Cutting the unpeeled banana lengthwise will create a pocket. Ingredients used for making grilled banana boats include chocolate morsels, chopped nuts, or trail mix and miniature marshmallows.

Rum and molasses barbecued bananas are popular with adults. In addition to rum and molasses, fresh lime juice and hot pepper sauce may be used. Various recipes for making grilled banana desserts may be found on the Internet.
