The Dr Oz diet was founded by Dr. Mehmet Oz, the director of the Cardiovascular Institute and Complementary Medicine Program at New York Presbyterian Hospital. Dr Oz is also the author of the book You on a Diet. In this book, Dr Oz encourages dieters to focus on retraining their body to crave natural foods and avoid those that are highly processed. He does this by teaching dieters to keep four main points in mind when planning their meals.

When choosing foods for the Dr Oz diet, look for foods that have less than four grams of saturated fat and sugar. Foods that are high in saturated fat raise a person's cholesterol level. This includes foods that contain trans fats. Foods that contain high fructose corn syrup tend to have more than four grams of sugar. According to Dr Oz, the average person eats 63 pounds of high fructose corn syrup a year, which adds 33 pounds of body fat.

Brown grains, including rice and bread, are allowed on the Dr Oz diet. White grains are forbidden, as they raise blood sugar levels due to being enriched. The process of enriching foods includes removing all the natural vitamins and minerals and adding a small amount back. The only white foods allowed on the Dr Oz diet are cauliflower, egg whites and fish.

Unlike many other diets, the Dr Oz diet encourages repetition when eating. Eating the same foods everyday trains your body to crave them. He recommends choosing foods that you find enjoyable to eat and can afford eating on a regular basis. The Dr Oz requires you to eat a high-protein breakfast everyday to prevent intense cravings for sugar by afternoon. Eating the same thing for breakfast every day makes it easier to stick to your diet.

Adhering to the Dr Oz diet requires you to eat a snack 20 minutes before you eat a meal. Doing so will prevent you from overeating at mealtime and makes it more likely that you will adhere to your diet when preparing your meals. The snack must be a healthy fat snack and preferably contain Omega-3 fatty acids, which helps to prevent cravings.

Not all diets are meant for everyone. When choosing a diet, pick one that you know you can adhere too. The diet must fit into your lifestyle without making large adjustments. The Dr Oz diet is a very strict diet but shows results. It helps you to focus, not just on weight loss, but on improving overall health.

I watch Dr. Oz's show on TV and I've heard him talking about this diet there several times.

I like him because he has a strong medical background and knows what he's talking about. The reason I his diets the most is because he introduces his patients and viewers to new ideas, foods and herbs that we usually don't hear about.

Just the other day, he was talking about herbs and foods that help us loose weight and burn calories. I really liked learning about that.

Actually, Dr. Oz has several different diets. There's the 90 day diet and the diet to reduce waist size. So if this particular one doesn't work, you can try some of his other diets.

I do think that all of his diets rely on certain principles. He want us to eat more nutritious food and be more fit. So when I start one of his diets, I try to think along the same route. I keep telling myself that I need to eat more nutritious, less fatty foods and have complex carbohydrates. And of course, if I want to lose weight, I have to exercise.

Dr. Oz's diet sounds like it would be a good fit for me. Even though I eat healthy foods mainly at mealtimes, I get intense sugar and carbohydrate cravings in between. So I end up getting all the calories, sugar and fat with snacks. I might give this diet a try and see what happens with my cravings.
