Placenta serum is a type of skin care product usually made from sheep placentae. Placentae are specialized organs responsible for passing nutrients to developing embryos in the womb, while filtering waste materials back out of the womb. Serum made from placentae can often contain other beneficial ingredients, such as collagen, vitamin E, or green tea extract. The serum is usually applied topically as a skin tonic. Manufacturers generally claim that it can help slow and reduce the signs of aging, that it can strengthen immunity, and that it can support general health and high energy levels.

Manufacturers of placenta serum claim that the placentae of animals have long been coveted for their health benefits in humans. The nutrients in placentae have long been believed to have special rejuvenating and aphrodisiac properties. Placenta serum is said to contain high levels of antioxidants, proteins, amino acids, melatonin, and immune co-factors believed capable of reducing the signs of aging and supporting a youthful state of overall health. Manufacturers generally claim that placenta skin serums can help rejuvenate skin by replacing nutrients lost via the aging process and exposure of skin to the elements.

The benefits of placenta serum for skin health are said to include a reduction in the appearance of age spots, hyperpigmentation, and sun damage. The antioxidants therein are believed to prevent cellular damage due to oxidation. The serum is believed capable of deeply moisturizing the skin, and may be able to promote faster healing while minimizing scar formation. Some believe that it is capable of supporting cellular renewal, to keep skin healthy. The serum generally claims to prevent or reduce the appearance of wrinkles, even out skin tone, improve skin texture, and support normal production of skin oils and the general health of pores.

Some claim that the benefits of placenta serum can extend beyond maintaining the health and appearance of the skin. Manufacturers often claim that this product can help strengthen immunity to stave off illness and support overall good health. It may help increase energy levels and metabolism. Some claim that placenta serum can help ease hormonal imbalances related to menopause or menstruation. Some manufacturers offer sheep placenta supplements designed to be taken orally for customers who wish to experience the more internally-oriented benefits of placenta supplementation.

Some placenta serums work and others don't. The first one I tried did not do anything for me. After a few years, I tried a different brand and was impressed with that one. The second serum had many additional ingredients like collagen, green tea and aloe vera however. So I'm not sure if the positive results were due to the placenta extract or the other ingredients.

@donasmrs-- I'm using a placenta serum since the past week and I like it. It hasn't been very long but I am starting to see results already. My skin is firmer and feels a lot softer than before, I have dry skin and this serum is very hydrating. I've heard that it helps with blemishes as well but I think I need to use it a little longer to see those results.

Overall, I recommend this serum, definitely give it a try. Mine is not very expensive. There is no reason for you to buy one that cost a lot. Also, make sure that the serum is a real sheep placenta serum. There is also something called plant placenta and some serums containing this ingredient are also labeled as "placenta serum." So look at the ingredients list carefully before buying.

Is anyone here using a placenta cream or serum? Does it work? Are you seeing anti-aging effects?

I want to try placenta skin products as I've been hearing so much about them. I have some fine wrinkles and hyper-pigmentation. But I want to make sure that I will get results before I purchase a placenta serum because they're not exactly cheap. So please share your experiences.
