A home office hutch can be a great way to extend the storage capacity and enhance the look of any desk. It is essentially a shelving and storage unit that you can adapt to just about any desk that you are working with. I needed more storage capacity but I didn't want to deal with buying and moving a new desk. The easy solution was just to get a hutch.
What is a good price to pay for a home office hutch? I have done some shopping around and I have seen a huge range of prices. Some of them are extremely expensive and seemed to have been carved by hand from old growth redwoods. I have spent less on a car then what some of these hutches go for.
But other models seem to be made of materials that are one step above cardboard and I have a sneaky suspicion that it will collapse the minute I start putting my stuff on it. So what is a good middle ground? Can someone recommend a store or a model that they have had success with?
I have a home office and I am able to keep my desk relatively clean buy keeping a home office hutch within arms length of my desk chair. I can keep all the stuff I might conceivably need from my pencils and staplers to important books and documents to my printer and scanner on the hutch rather than cluttering up my desk.
This really helps me keep focused because I can focus on one thing at a time. When your desk is piled with work it feels like your next task is always looming over you. When you have a clean desk you can focus on the project at hand.
