What also happened on September 11, 1973 was that there was a military coup in Chile which was sponsored by the CIA (yes the one in the U.S.), Nixon and Henry Kissinger. After the military coup the new leader was Augusto Pinochet, who was trained in the school of the Americas in the U.S.

Why say islamic? Some people are just horrible. I don't think it's very nice to say islam at all. islam doesn't have any beliefs about war. proper muslims think it's very wrong. I don't know why them terrorists bring islam in to it for they aren't even muslims. They weren't islamic at all. They have changed the whole aspect of islam. Do we really need to be reminded of what happened on 9/11?? I don't think so.

Other hijackers have had mostly political or personal aims (thus, "country of origin" hijackers). These men had primarily religious aims, and their religion was Islam.
When people speak about The Troubles in Northern Ireland, it's impossible to do so without getting into a Catholic/Protestant identity. You talk about the IRA, that's Catholic; the Ulster Volunteer Force is Protestant. Their aims are certainly political, but they are divided down a religious line, hence, the identity.
It's not discrimination or prejudice to call the terrorists who participated in the 9/11 attacks "Islamic." That's what they were, and that's what spurred them to plan the attacks. It was jihad, and that particular term is solely the property of Islam.
Mind you, I am not saying their beliefs in any way represent the majority of Muslims, or the spirit of Islam, just as the IRA and UVF organizations do not represent the majority of Christians in Northern Ireland. Radicals are radicals, whatever their beliefs, and these groups are comprised of radicals. It is sad these people used their religious beliefs as an excuse to kill more than 3,000 people, but the fact is, they did so, and saying it is not discrimination -- it is merely the uncomfortable truth.
