Mesotherapy treatments are a non-surgical cosmetic procedure that involves injections of microscopic amounts of pharmaceuticals, homeopathics, and vitamins to treat a broad spectrum of medical issues. Mesotherapy treatments can address cellulite, acne, and stretch marks, among a host of other conditions. Though most commonly used to address cosmetic issues, mesotherapy treatments are also used in the case of illness and injury.

For cellulite, mesotherapy treatments address cellulite formation. The injections do this in one of three ways. First, the fat in the area where the cellulite is located is reduced. The combination of injectables increases circulation to the specific area. Finally, the mesotherapy treatments smooth the skin by addressing damaged areas of connective tissue.

As the treatments target the fat deposits where cellulite is located, it has been found that they also are helpful in promoting weight loss in targeted areas. The way this works is that the treatments cause the existing fats cells to break down, and the treatments also stop cells from being able to store fat.

As a skin renewal system, mesotherapy treatments rejuvenate skin. After the treatment course, skin appears fresher and clearer. Much of the lost elasticity that is common in aging can be restored by these treatments. Cell rejuvenation is a common result of the treatments. This causes the production of collagen and elastin, reducing wrinkles and fine lines. Treatments of this nature can be used for the face and neck, but they have also proved effective for the skin on the arms and hands.

Mesotherapy treatments have become popular due to the fact that they are not invasive. These treatments require no recovery time and can even be done on a lunch hour with the patient returning to work that same day. Patients should not consume caffeine prior to a treatment, and they should not wear makeup immediately after a facial treatment. A slight soreness or bruising in the location where the treatment was received is not uncommon. With the use of topical or oral dosages of arnica, however, these side effects are said to be reduced.

The number of mesotherapy treatments required and the results differ from person to person. A large factor in the number of required treatments is the severity of the condition the injections are being administered to treat. Many patients begin to see results as soon as receiving two injections. Results from mesotherapy are lasting, but because aging still occurs, regular maintenance injections are suggested.
