For anyone who wishes to spend some time in a city with beautiful white sandy beaches, plenty of nightlife and lots of things to do, Pensacola is the place to be. Here are some examples of just a few of the outdoor activities in Pensacola that everyone can enjoy.

At the top of the list of outdoor activities in Pensacola are the lovely beaches. Pensacola Beach, which is the crown jewel for all the beaches in the area, affords miles of white powdery sand that is ideal for sunning, a volleyball game, or just basking in the warm waters of the Gulf. Unlike in many cities, the public beachfronts in Pensacola are kept clean and ready for people of all ages to enjoy.

Dotted along the perimeter of the beach are covered areas with built-in charcoal grills, picnic tables, and in general places to come in from the sun for a moment and enjoy a snack. Along with the shaded areas, Pensacola Beach also boasts shower facilities and changing rooms along the parking areas. This makes it easier for beach lovers to rinse off and clean up a little before you move on to other outdoor activities in Pensacola.

While checking out the wonders of the beach, don’t forget to drop by the Pensacola Beach Pier and Observation Post on Fort Pickens Road. There, you will encounter a view that will take your breath away.

A trip to the Gulf Breeze Zoo is a must for anyone that wants to get the most from outdoor activities in Pensacola. Located in the adjoining suburb of Gulf Breeze, the facility is more popularly known simply as The Zoo. Here you will find over fifty acres devoted to beautiful flora and fauna. There are also a number of animals roaming free through carefully fenced sections of the park. A tour train called the Safari Line will take visitors through these sections, allowing visitors to see many forms of wildlife living in the open. Along with these open areas, the Zoo also offers a more traditional setting for visitors to walk through and observe the over nine hundred animals that reside at The Zoo.

For anyone who enjoys aviation history and displays, nothing can top the Blue Angels. As one of the premiere outdoor activities in Pensacola, the Angels are affiliated with the United States Navy, and tour the country performing air shows. Pensacola serves as the home base, and at least one weekend a month is devoted to air shows near the city. Summer is an especially great time to catch the Blue Angels in action, as more shows are scheduled in Pensacola, Florida during the months of June and July.

There are also a variety of state parks that can be included in the list of outdoor activities in Pensacola. From Big Lagoon State Park to Perdido Key State Park and even over to the Blackwater Heritage Trail State Park in Milton, there are plenty of opportunities for walking, hiking, camping and just enjoying nature. Camping areas in the area will accommodate tent camping, as well as campers and RV setup, so there is a place for everyone.

No list of outdoor activities in Pensacola would be complete without mentioning Fun City. A good old fashioned amusement park located on Pensacola Boulevard, it is a chance to enjoy rides and boardwalk style amusements. See side shows, toss a ball at milk bottles, try your hand at card tricks and shooting ranges as you make your way through the park. Don’t forget to enjoy one of the foot long hot dogs smothered in peppers and onions during your day at Fun City.

These are just a few of the fantastic outdoor activities in Pensacola. There are also dancing clubs, racetracks, and a number of other outdoor activities in Pensacola that are worth looking into.
