What are Ayurveda Clinics?

Ayurveda is an ancient method of natural healing that originated in India, but is often practiced in several countries today. Ayurveda clinics focus on treating various conditions, from diabetes and high blood pressure to infertility and many infectious diseases. One of the treatments frequently offered at this type of clinic includes a massage with herbal oils. These oils can also be used on their own, or in combination with a steam bath. One quite popular treatment at many Ayurveda clinics is Panchakarma, which is a series of five methods meant to release toxins from the body so that it can heal from various conditions.

A variety of massages are offered at Ayurveda clinics that focus on eliminating certain diseases, injuries, and disorders. For example, a full body massage is known for its ability to relieve guests of circulatory issues, fatigue, arthritis, and backaches since it can relax the muscles and increase blood flow throughout the body. A massage that targets the head and chest is best known for treating allergies, congestion, migraines, and breathing issues. On the other hand, some massages at Ayurveda clinics use herbal powders instead of oils, such as one treatment that is targeted toward losing weight and improving the appearance of the skin.

While herbal oils and powders are often known for enhancing massages, they can also be used alone to cure medical problems. For instance, insomnia, high blood pressure, headaches, anxiety, and depression may be treated when warm herbal oils are applied to the forehead, especially just after a massage. Injuries and inflammation may be cured when herbal oil is applied to the affected areas and left there for at least half an hour. Another treatment involving herbal oils also uses steam to help cure certain problems, as the guest has warm oils poured on the body, and then enters a steam shower. Toxins are said to be released from the body this way, often resulting in toned, clean skin that is free of impurities.

One of the most popular types of treatments at Ayurveda clinics is called Panchakarma, which comprises five therapies that can encourage the body to release its impurities so that its diseases can be cured. Two of the steps involve inducing vomiting and using laxatives to help cleanse the inside of the body. An enema is also given to help this process along, followed by clearing the sinuses by inhaling herbal mixtures, and releasing minimal amounts of blood. Such treatments are usually given gradually, as these methods can take anywhere from a week to a month to work. Therefore, it is often necessary to visit the Ayurveda clinic daily when opting for this treatment.
