A popular herb that has been used for its medicinal benefits for thousands of years, medicinal ginseng has three main types: American, Siberian and Panax. Ginseng is believed to have several health benefits, many of which are said to improve sexual dysfunction. Panax ginseng, in particular, is believed to benefit men suffering from erectile dysfunction by producing steroid-like effects. This herb has also been known to increase circulation and lessen anxiety. When applied topically, it can also help men to not ejaculate prematurely.

Men use ginseng for erectile dysfunction for several different reasons. Panax ginseng contains ginsenosides, which are compounds that produce steroid-like effects. Research has suggested that ginsenosides might improve sexual function by increasing the amount of nitric oxide in the penile tissue. Nitric oxide plays an important role is relaxing the muscles of the penis and allowing the area to fill with blood. This action is essential in achieving an erection.

Two additional benefits of using ginseng for erectile dysfunction is the herb’s ability to improve circulation and reduce anxiety. Increased circulation might improve blood flow to the penis, while decreased stress levels might make it possible for men to relax and achieve an erection. American, Siberian, and Panax ginseng are all believed to have these effects on the body.

Creams that contain ginseng can also be applied to the penis to prevent premature ejaculation. Studies have shown that ginseng might be effective as a topical agent when used in combination with other ingredients. Depending on the specific issue from which a man is suffering, a topical ointment could help him sustain an erection and improve erectile dysfunction.

While studies have produced positive results, experts are not convinced that ginseng is an effective treatment for erectile dysfunction. Men who want to begin using ginseng for erectile dysfunction should first consult with their physician to determine the safety of the herb. People suffering from heart problems, insomnia, diabetes, and hormone-related disorders should be especially careful when taking ginseng, as the herb may worsen their condition.

In addition to using ginseng for erectile dysfunction, this herb is used to treat a wide range of medical conditions, enhance immune system function, increase concentration and improve memory. Ginseng is also believed to possess anti-aging properties and treat people suffering from anxiety, fatigue, asthma, depression, fibromyalgia and several types of cancer. Of the many uses of ginseng, erectile dysfunction is one of the conditions the herb is most commonly used to treat.

Ginseng helps with erectile dysfunction and libido but not all ginseng supplements work. I've tried several different ginseng supplements and only the last one actually had an effect. I think the previous supplements were not good quality, or the ginseng root might not have been fresh. It's a good idea to read reviews of supplements first. If the majority of customers say that it works, then it probably does.

@ZipLine-- Yes, I'm taking a ginseng supplement. It's liquid ginseng in a vial and I think it's working. It's only been a few weeks since I started taking it so I don't think I'm experiencing the full effects of the ginseng just yet. But my erections are lasting longer than normal, so there is a definite improvement.

I have no idea if ginseng will work for everyone. It might depend on the cause of the erectile dysfunction and the severity. But it's certain that ginseng improves blood circulation and maintaining an erection has a lot to do with circulation.
