Many plant-based creams are available for soothing various skin problems. Wheatgrass cream is a home remedy made popular by Dr. Ann Wigmore. In Dr. Wigmore's autobiography, Why Suffer?: How I Overcame Illness and Pain Naturally, she extols the benefits of wheatgrass, including its value in healing cuts, bruises, skin rashes, and sores.

Wheatgrass healing cream can be prepared at home. To make wheatgrass cream, simply combine a packet of dried wheatgrass with two teaspoons (ten milliliters) of raw honey. The mixture should be stirred very briskly until well mixed. A sufficient amount of cream for a single use should only be made at a time, as the wheatgrass benefits begin to lessen as soon as it is mixed or exposed to oxygen. Wheatgrass tablets can also be crushed into a fine powder and used if preferred.

According to users of the product, adding honey to the recipe helps to speed up the healing process. Purists prefer both raw honey as well as organic wheatgrass in order to minimize exposure to harmful chemicals. Raw honey is also purported to contain both healing enzymes as well as a mild grade of hydrogen peroxide, leaving a protective covering over skin once applied. It also has beneficial antiviral and antibacterial qualities.

Once made, the antioxidant cream can be applied to skin up to three times daily until symptoms subside. Wheatgrass cream can be applied immediately to pulled muscles. Open wounds and bleeding can be stopped with wheatgrass medicated cream. To treat a nosebleed, dab a bit of the holistic medicine to the inside of a bleeding nostril and hold the nose with the thumb and finger until bleeding stops.

Some people like to keep wheatgrass cream in their first aid kits as a quick treatment for cuts, scrapes, bruises, and other skin ailments. Doing so, however, can decrease the potency of the mixture, as it should be used freshly prepared when possible. While the cream is generally considered safe for everyone, people with concerns about using it under special conditions, such as during pregnancy, breastfeeding, or with children and infants, should consult with their family physician prior to using the treatment.

Containing vitamins A, C, and E, wheatgrass cream is also filled with minerals, phytosterols, and amino acids. Some claim that the cream can help slow the aging process of the skin when applied regularly. The cream can also help treat dry, raw, or cracked skin, eczema, and blackheads on the skin. This natural moisturizer is a favorite beauty care secret of many people.

People who frequently use wheatgrass cream may consider growing their own wheatgrass to juice at home. This will ensure that the supply is always fresh and of high quality. Fresh wheatgrass is also said to contain more benefits than the tablet form of the remedy.
