What is the Best Way to get Rid of Stretch Marks?

health wellness

Is there a way to get rid of stretch marks completely? The best course of action is to avoid getting them in the first place, if possible. Stretch marks have two primary causes: physical and hormonal. Stretch marks can be caused by extreme stretching of the skin, which keeps the skin from returning to its original condition. This extreme stretching is commonly the result of gaining large amounts of weight in a short period of time. Bodybuilders, pregnant women, and adolescents that have been through rapid growth spurts, often develop stretch marks. Stretch marks can also result from hormonal issues like continual steroid use or Cushing's syndrome. Some stretch marks result from both the physical stretching and the horn

Stretch marks are deep scars, or scar tissue, that appears as stripes on the skin. They are commonly found on the stomach, legs, buttocks, and breasts, but may appear nearly anywhere. Extreme stretching of the skin causes tiny skin fibers to tear. There is no known remedy to repair these fibers, though there are many products and treatments available that can help lighten stretch marks and improve the look of the skin.

Depending on the severity and location of the scar tissue, exfoliation may be helpful. Removing layers of dead skin and unveiling soft, fresh skin can help minimize the appearance of stretch marks. You can use oatmeal or baking soda to make your own preparations, or choose from the many scented, specially prepared formulas available. Be sure to apply plenty of moisturizer to keep the skin soft and hydrated after exfoliation.

Different types of creams and lotions promise to improve the texture of the skin and make stretch marks less noticeable. Many will provide some relief, but certain preparations are meant for use only on newer scars. Using these preparations on severe stretch marks, or those more than a year old, may not show marked improvement. Read the labels carefully to determine which products are best for you.

For severe stretch marks, skin peels or laser treatments may be necessary. They can be somewhat expensive, and they can cause minor to moderate pain. These methods cannot actually repair torn fibers in the skin, but they are reported to dramatically improve the appearance of stretch marks for many people.

Currently there is no way to actually repair damaged skin fibers, so one alternative to get rid of stretch marks is to remove them. This requires cosmetic surgery. During surgery, the skin is cut away; though in some instances, doctors cannot remove all of the damage. An added benefit of cosmetic surgery is the ability to pull the remaining skin taut. This will also improve the appearance of stretch marks.

Even though it is difficult to remove or repair stretch marks, you can make a drastic improvement in their appearance using one or more of the listed products or treatments. It may be helpful to discuss the different options with your healthcare provider.

I used Soft-E-Lotion when I was pregnant and did not get any stretch marks. My sister got them when she was pregnant but did not use anything.

I have been using Strivectin-D for about a year....it costs about $135. It has evened out my skin tone and the marks are not as deep and have lightened up. I also started noticing lines on my forehead and applied it there at night - they say it is "better than Botox" and it has worked! It directs you to use it 3 times a day, I tried to do this, but of course couldn't always 'stick with it'.....and I still saw results. I am thinking about trying another cream just because of the price of Strivectin-D, but it has just been so successful for me, I hesitate to switch. The only thing I need now is something to firm the skin, so it is not so saggy. I guess I could work out.. :)

Hi confused teens. I'm 21 now but started noticing the onset of stretch marks at 12. I have stretch marks on my upper thighs, butt, and hips. I was very active in sports in High school and was constantly in situations where others could see what I considered my 'ugly flaws'. I'm a very attractive girl other than my stretch marks and people always questioned why I'd dress in the bathroom, or never take my board shorts off, or never wear short shorts. I know exactly how you all feel. Your body doesn't match how beautiful you are inside. You may feel as though it's putting a damper on your ability to start exploring your sexuality because you're afraid they'll see. Believe me... one day you'll find the one for you that doesn't care about your "silly stretch marks". You'll be totally gorgeous to them no matter what. You'll feel totally comfortable being naked in front of them. I've come to learn that it's not as big of a deal as you get older. It won't always be a problem. Now that my scars are so old they are smaller, yet shiny and white. They are still very noticeable but they are a part of me. I don't flaunt them around (I'm still conservative) but I will wear a bikini in public now. If you're not financially able to intervene with medical procedures (which I'm not) my best advice is to try your best to accept them. They are very common and you're definitely not the only one going through it. There are so many others in your same situation. Please don't let it run your life or alter the way you feel about your self. The best thing you can do is ignore them as much as possible and have fun being a teenager. You're only young once.

I had streach marks when I was in my teens pretty badly. All I used was some cheap cocoa butter cream for streach marks, or plain cocoa butter it worked pretty well not 100% but enough that I felt comfortable with myself. When you are young it's easy for your skin to repair itself.

I just found stretch marks on my waist a minute ago and I'm pretty traumatized ... considering I'm six feet tall and I only weigh 130lbs. Thanks for the tips! But about the stinging pain in your legs, I find I get that when I don't work out for a few days; my muscles just get really uncomfortable and sometimes actually hurt (and not the kind of pain you get from actually working your muscles). So my suggestion is, go lift some weights!

I am 15 and have really bad stretch marks on my thighs. Its really embarrassing and i cant wear shorts. Changing for PE is awful and i usually try to hide away [to no avail]. I'd like to start exploring a bit more with my boyfriend, and i have pretty good self esteem except for my thighs. People don't expect the marks on my legs and usually don't believe me if I'm confident enough to tell them. SO id like to get rid of them quickly, and CHEAPLY. Is cocoa butter the best so far? Please help.

Hi I'm 17 and I am pregnant with my first child(he is actually due today)and since I've been pregnant my breasts have gotten a lot bigger and I have developed stretch marks on them as well as on my right hip.I have used the cocoa butter the whole time and taken baby oil baths and it seems to have done some good. But I was wondering when I go back down to my normal size could there be stretch marks that I just cant see right now?

I am a teen and I have stretch marks. I recently grew 3 inches and gained a normal amount of weight. I have stretch marks but I really don't know why they look really bad. To answer the other girl's question, I've had the same problem but it happens in my chest and legs. I don't think it has anything to do with the stretch marks.

i just bought this awesome dress, but i can't wear it because i have stretch marks on my breasts. i'm only eighteen and i've noticed them appearing around puberty, i don't know why i have them. do you think it'll really help if i use cocoa butter??
Posted by: anon4692
Is it safe to have surgery if you're under eighteen? Because I've had stretch marks on my thighs, hips, breasts, and butt for two years now, and I'm only thirteen. I really hate looking them, and, I'm not all that self-conscious about them. . .I just wish they were gone.

I begin to notice I had stretch marks on my back, arms, and stomach at the age of 12. From the age of 12 to about 18 I grew about a foot and a half in individual somewhat huge spurts.. While I also began to put on more weight

Now however I've noticed that my stretch marks fade, I have one on my arm that's white but all the ones on my stomach don't look as bad and I used Cocoa butter on my stomach to see what happened...

At first I had a problem with them but life goes on and they're only a small detail... I'd compare it to having a chicken pox scar

hi im 15 and i have had stretch marks for years. i used to be really paranoid about it but now i have grown to live with it. i have used various creams over the years and they haven't helped one tiny bit. over time they will fade and go shiny and kind of white. there is no point in worrying about what people will think of you? and if you have boyfriend, what they will think when they see them?, because people wont be bothered about them. they are with you because of who you are, and they obviously like that person. i have stretch marks on my breasts, hips and thighs. i used to be a big person but have lost weight and have grown confident with the fact that they wont go, but now i count them as part of me. one thing that used to help me when i was feeling down about this was that i knew many other people where in my situation. your not alone. please dont let stretch marks pull you down and make you feel unhappy, because you should be proud of what you look like and who you are. thanks.

I am 19 years old and i am pregnant with my first, i have been putting cocoa butter on my stomach from the beginning and have not gotten any stretch marks there but i did get some on my butt and hips. one side is worse than the other. I hate it too and i don't really think there is a way to get rid of them because i have been putting cocoa butter on them and they are just getting worse, and my butt didn't even seem to get any bigger to me that the messed up part! So i think any one that comes to this site after they have got them is SOL because u have to catch it before you get them, is what i think!

I'm 18 and I've had stretch marks since I was 14. I weigh 165 lbs and I'm 5 ft 5 in. I have stretch marks on my back, stomach, on my thighs, back of my knees, on my breasts, and above my genitals. My boyfriend wants kids and I can't show him my body. I want kids too but he's perfect, there's no flaw in his body. What should I do?

okay. i'm only 16 years old and i already have stretch marks in my lower back, hips, and butt. i don't even know why i got them considering i'm only about 5'2 and weigh 100 pounds i started noticing them when i was 14 yrs. old. i know that the ones in my lower back and butt won't go away because they're white, and very noticeable, but the ones in my sides or hips are still red. can at least they go away? i've used cocoa butter but it doesn't seem to do anything. and i also take vitamin E and drink lost of water but they seem to keep on growing and some more keep on coming. and i'm very self-conscious about them because i'm in dance classes and sometimes we use outfits showing our lower back or hips and its very embarrassing seeing the other girls with perfect skin!! I hate them! i guess i just have to get over them. hopefully my own skin heals itself i heard sometimes that happens especially if they're red.

i'm 22 years old and just had my first baby 3 months ago. starting my pregnancy at 125 pounds, i was terrified of getting stretch marks.most women i talked to that had babies said that my skin would be fine since i was young... and that i would bounce back into shape. WRONG! i used every "trick", lotion, oil, ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING, i could to avoid getting them. i spent so much money on cocoa butter, baby oil, over the counter remedies... i soaked in oil baths, bought lotions, creams, and oils that specialize in reducing stretch marks... but is till got them, and i got them bad. bottom line is ladies... i honestly believe that it doesn't matter if you use any of those "miracle ointments" at all. i truely think its just genetics... i've seen the skinnest girls gain tons of weight during pregnancy, and not a stretch mark appeared. sure some creams may help.. but are you sure that's not just all in your mind? stretch marks may change in color, but they'll never go away without surgery. so unless you are one lucky lady that was blessed with the beautiful skin that every girl wishes for... the ability to stretch and expand that stay flawless, i'm sorry to say their really isnt anything we can do =/

I'm 14 years old... I started noticing stretch marks two years ago. I'm 5 ft 1, and I weigh 119... Admittedly, I could lose some weight. I have stretch marks all around the tops of my thighs, and on the backs of my calves. I'm so embarrassed about them... (The calves were from muscle growth during ballet, the thighs from good ol' fat!) I feel gross and fat whenever I'm in the locker room or in a swimsuit... I hate wearing a bikini and I'm afraid that if I try to have sex or something in the future my partner will be turned off... (Not while I'm this age haha.) My stretch marks are white now, but I hate that I can feel the divits in my skin where they are and see shadows when the light hits my leg. I love my body other than that... The stretch marks kill me. I would give up quite a bit to have them removed.

hey, i'm 16 years old and i have had stretch marks on my calves and thighs for quite a while now and it seems like they are getting worse by the day and doesn't seem like anything is working. I feel really ashamed of them, were as my friends are wearing shorts and showing their legs off, I'm constantly trying to hide them. i feel really gross and fat when i'm getting changed and tend not to look at them 'cause they upset me. i hate wearing anything that shows them off and im scared of what over people think, especially the boys cause they might turn around and say something, if not to me they might to other people. i just want them to disappear!!!!!

I don't really know what is wrong with my body. I only weigh 130 pounds and I have stretch marks on my breasts, thighs, calves, hips, stomach, and arms. I'm a pretty average size and I don't usually gain weight. Why am I getting all these stretch marks?

my girlfriend had stretch marks at a young age i think she was about 13/14 she had her first kid when she was 15 that made her stretch marks worse she then had her second kid when she was 18 and again they got even worse she hated them but now she has got used to them being there thanks to me telling her how nice she looks and things like that this is because i see the inner beauty not the outer.

now if your boyfriend can't see past your stretch marks and see the inner beauty then you are with the wrong boy/man.

the pain you get is when you rest for a few days after extensive exercise is your muscles repairing themselves if you start exercising again before this pain has passed you could risk damaging your muscles trust me on this a am a bodybuilding coach.

Ladies (and gentlemen),

Reading these posts should help you realize that you are not alone in having stretch marks - we are the majority not the minority. The most beautiful women in the world have them - we just don't have the advantage of having ourselves airbrushed......

Stay healthy, strong and active, drink lots of water and "love the skin you're in"!!!!

Editor's reply: Amen to that! Thanks for the pep talk!

Ok. im 16, and i've kinda realised by now that most people get them sometime in their life. Yea the thing is, it's kinda really bad for me because i had the potential to model as i was quite tall and thin before puberty (when i was 13). i was size 6 and 5"7. When i got to 14 i got all these random purplish lines on my thighs and butt and now they're spreading to other places too like back of calves and boobs. Its real sad. But the thing is y'kno, there's like probably 90% of all women/chicks get them so we should kinda get over it. Yea it's ugly, but u could use makeup to cover them. I've used all these oils and stuff that never works as well. And also, guys get them too apparently. So don't get too fussy over them, it's not going to make much of a difference

hi i turned 16 in May,

and started to notice my stretch marks in early August..

I am wondering if it is because i gained 10 pounds really fast because of birth control!?!? I am about 5'2" and weigh about 130 and have pretty large boobs but my stretch marks on my hips thighs and butt are growing pretty fast..

is there a way to stop them before they come?

and to reduce redness?!

im asking for a real answer

maybe cocoa butter?

hi everyone. i'm 15 years old and about 5' 8" and around 180 pounds, plus i am an avid soccer, basketball, and softball player. i come from a family of tall and strongly built women so for my genetics and amount of muscle i'm at a healthy weight. i first noticed stretch marks on my thighs when i was about 11. they started on my inner/upper thighs but expanded to all around the front of my thighs, about two inches down from my butt. in the last three years i have been at a sedentary rate because of consecutive knee surgeries/injuries, and because of this i gained 40 pounds. i have since lost about 15, but the extra weight left stretch marks on my hips. recently two thick red marks have appeared on the front of my stomach as well.

all i have tried using is vitamin e cream, and it worked very well on turning the marks on my hips and thighs from red and purple to white, and because i have very fair skin they aren't as noticeable. i've started using the cream on my stomach and it seems to be helping, and it is also very reasonably priced around 8 dollars for a 4 ounce container.

my stretch marks do leave me feeling self conscious, especially in a swim suit or in the locker room. but i know that there isn't much left i could do about them. almost all of my friends have stretch marks some where, even the underweight ones. the best you can do is drink water, stay healthy, moisturize, wait for them to change color, and ACCEPT it. no one will notice or care if you don't.

learn to love your skin! it truly is beautiful.

The best way to get rid of stretch marks is to do it naturally. Wasting $100 of dollars on creams and solutions will only erase the money in your account.

i'm 19 and i've had stretch marks since i started martial arts 9 years ago because i rapidly increased my muscle mass. they appeared on the tops of my calves, my butt, hips and thighs. i found that using a loofah in circular motions and plenty of moisturiser (cocoa butter is best) did wonders and they are so faint now that i can wear a bikini and no one would know. plus the loofah gives you really soft, smooth skin making it easier to fake tan which covers them up even more!

I'm 14, almost 15. I've had stretch marks for less than a year now. Mine are on my butt, my thighs, and my hips. I'm about 5'5 and weigh about 135 lbs. I'm really embarrassed because I'm going to stay with my friend at a hotel with a swimming pool, and i don't know how to cover them up. If you have something that works, please post it.

I am extremely leery of buying creams any more. I have bought many "stretch mark creams" All I seemed to do was get was more stretchmarks (from pregnancy). So I did some research and I really hope this helps you ladies out. I have literally tried everything from Strivectin to Cocoa Butter, Shea Butter, Vitamin E, Mederma, Mothers Helper, belly butter, etc. Nothing worked. Many times I ended up with oil stains on my clothing. I decided to look into an all natural way to get rid of these unflattering stretch marks. I checked out a website read this article about MSM (it is an all natural sulfur) It actually helps skin to regenerate and produce more collagen reducing blemishes and scars rapidly. I started using their extremely cost effective method religiously and within 3 months you can barely see my stretchmarks.

Hello fellow Stretch Mark Suffers!

I suffered stretch marks in my teens and now again in my mid-twenties I am getting more. I think the best advice given already is to use coco-butter or just coconut oil (which is much cheaper, u can get it from a health shop). Someone earlier mentioned they were getting pain along with the stretch marks. I have suffered this too. Keep an eye on it; if this pain occurring close to or during your period it could be a hormonal imbalance and you can bet tested for this by a good doctor. Also ask to be tested for your vitamin A levels and zinc levels.

Good Luck.

I think it is best to try and embrace your body as beautiful no matter what. We are so used to seeing flawless air-brushed bodies on billboards and films, so we don't really know what a real women’s body it meant to look like. Just remember they do really have flaws like you and I.

I'm a teen and have stretch marks on my butt and breasts. I got the ones on my breasts when I was about eleven and a year and half after they were pretty much gone without any interventions (I didn't put anything on them or exfoliate, etc.)

I've had them on my butt for about three years now and they've just gone white and shiny. I'm hoping they'll go away as the ones on my breasts did. If anyone has any advice, please share.

im an average weight 14 yr old girl and i've had stretch marks on my hips and back of my knees for about 6 months now and i tried bio-oil and it didn't seem to help so i tried normal cooking oil that you have in your kitchen and it works :D i've been using it for about 4 days now and my stretch marks have almost vanished i just rub it in to the whole area every time i go into my room so about 4-5 times a day and now they are almost gone :D and don't worry if you have stretch marks most teens get them when they grow so it's normal.

Hi. I have stretch marks everywhere imaginable. I was using cocoa butter too but I wasn't happy with the slow healing. I went out and bought Striae Plus cream. It's really expensive but works amazing! within the week you will see your red inflamed stretch marks reduce and you scars lighten. you have to be consistent with the cream though. NO SLACKING! 2 times a day every day. massage it in vigorously but with care. Good luck with the healing :]

Just something I must share with everyone affected out there. My wife is 6 months pregnant now with our first child. I still remembered the first time she noticed that her stretch marks during her 3rd month of pregnancy. She was very worried. So she started using several stretch mark treatment products. Unfortunately none of them worked. Her stretch marks on her abdomen was getting worse by the day. Then one of her colleagues suggested a product called Jojo E. At first she was hesitant to pay for this product as she was afraid it would not work, just like the earlier products.

But when we checked the ingredients of this product from their website, she changed her mind and wanted to give it a try. This is because this product uses 100% active plant extracts Jojoba oil, natural Vitamin E, safflower oil and grape seed oil. She googled and it was apparent that Jojoba oil is rich in Essential Fatty Acids will help to repair and regenerate your new skin cells.

In fact, another reason why my wife now uses Jojo E Oil is because it contains only 100% natural ingredients with no chemicals that can change the texture and color of your skin. Another plus point is that Jojo E is also non allergic!

After about 1 month using this Jojo E oil, the stretch marks on the abdomen began to fade out. It becomes lighter and less noticeable. She said that she can see the difference on her skin now. No new stretch marks have developed since then.

We therefore would like to recommend this product to anyone affected by stretch marks. Even though I cannot promise whether it will work for every person, it is definitely worth a try.

oh my gosh this forum is the answer to my prayers! i thought i was the only one!

ugh. i am 15, 6ft and 125lbs but i have stretch marks all over my arms, breasts, hips, back, and thighs. they drive me crazy! i got them from a growth spurt i had one summer, i went from 5'5" to 5'10" in 3 months, all my friends say i am TOO skinny and should gain weight but i'm scared i'll get more. they are holding me back, ive even been approached for a modeling agency but i felt like i had to turn them down before "they learned the truth", i used to be so confident before i got them but now i feel like a hag.

i agree with an earlier comment, my boyfriend wants to "take it to the next level" but im scared he'll be turned off....help!

Hi, i would recommend to you the Jojo E Oil. Who knows that Jojo E will help you to overcome your stretch marks problem. i think your stretch marks are due to your rapid growth. try that oil now before it is too late. maybe after you will gain back your self confidence and can try to approach the modelling agency.

and my increase in muscles someone please respond

i guess your stretch marks only appear on that part of your body is due to the increase in your biceps muscles. but have you tried any stretch mark product? i think it's good to find the cure before your stretch mark getting worse. how about the product that have been mentioned above - Jojo E. may be it's one of your best stretch mark solution.

I have this pool party coming up in June for my end of the year thing. I'm 5'7 around, and weigh at about 150 pounds.

i have such low self esteem >.< anyway.

i really need this. i hate my body. at least i want my stretchmarks gone.

there are a few ways to fight against stretch marks. using stretch mark cream is one of the cheapest and effective way. i understood your concern to look good and sexy while wearing bikini. try to get product that is rich in Vitamin E, Zinc and etc. look at the product ingredient first before you buy that product especially if you want to buy online product.

Hi everyone! I was reading all of these testimonials and never knew that there were so many young girls that suffered with this. Im 20 yrs old and started to notice stretch marks on my butt at the age of 9 or 10. I didnt know why and was always ashamed of this because i thought I was the only one that had these scars. I wasn't fat, and still not. Im only 5ft 7in at 145. As i got older they began to develop on my hips, just above my elbows, behind my calves, above and on my knees. I hated them! I am so used to seeing all these women with beautiful skin being advertised on tv, magazines, billboards, etc, so therefore that's what I thought beauty was supposed to be. Which is totally wrong! Half of these girls on tv that we long to be aren't really what we think they are because they're all made up and air brushed. They want us to think that there is a certain look in beauty. Everyone is different so thats impossible!

Even though I know this, I still do struggle a little with my confidence and wearing a bikini, etc. I just recently started looking for remedies, but just realized that this is how God made me, and if my stretch marks weren't supposed to be on my body, then they wouldnt have been there!

You young girls that are worrying about what your boyfriend might think or what your friends might think shouldnt be important because i bet that they have something on their body that they hate and are ashamed of too. Everybody does!

I have a wonderful boyfriend for about 4 yrs now and hes great! He makes me feel so confident because he tells me that I have the perfect body and that he loves it! He doesnt look at my stretch marks because thats not important. He sees something deeper, an inner beauty.....what each and every one of you have!

Be encouraged

I myself have searched for tons of different ways to get rid of these ugly marks, and finally have found a good routine for me.

Every body and skin type varies from person to person, so in order to find a good system that works with your skin type, you must try a few methods first.

Ive tried everything from Neosporin to Vics..but I found that only 100% natural ingredients will help. They are permanent, and will never go away, unless surgery is involved.

Everyday I shower, and use an exfoliant on my marks. This exfoliant is very gentle and takes away any dead skin cells. It is made out of:

-Plain Oatmeal

-Honey

-Pure Ginger Root (ground into a paste)

(Keep in the fridge)

Then I will put 100% Vitamin E oil, with 40,000 IUS.

After it is rubbed in completely, put 100% Coco Butter on the marks.

At night, repeat the steps but this time with the Vitamin E oil, rub it in and put a thin towel over the marks. Then get a hot water bottle, or heating pad and put it over the marks for 10 min or so. This penetrates the oil deeper into the skin.

I also drink 2 L of water a day, and have a very healthy diet, with lots of exercise. I also found that tanning, only naturally, helps the marks..because we receive vitamins from sunlight.

I hope I have been a little help.

i'm 17 and have had really bad stretch marks on my thighs, breasts, butt and hips since i was about 11.

i use Bio-Oil and it works really well and it isn't really that expensive.

after about 2 weeks of applying it every day i could see that my stretch marks have faded

Posted by: anon9672
Unfortunately, if you are just starting now with a routine for your marks, they will not be gone by the summer..maybe faded a little..but they will still be able to be seen.

Coco Butter, definitely helps as a lotion with something else like Vitamin E..but I have never heard of JoJo E oil.

To get any natural products, try your local health mart in town.

hi. I am a 15 year old girl with horrible stretch marks all over my butt and thigh area. I have tried cocoa butter, because it is a cheap alternative, but i've only seen slight improvement recently, and i've finished a tube. I am wondering if bio-oil really works, and where i can get it. please help!

I'm 15, and I gained A LOT of weight when I moved. I guess it's no surprise that I got really bad stretch marks on the back, and sides of my thighs, and on the back of my calves. I hate it, because I feel like my boyfriend isn't going to accept my body anymore-Just last year I had beautiful thighs, and he saw them too. I've been doing Slim in 6, drinking tons of water, taking hot baths every night, and using Vaseline Firming lotion. It makes your skin burn a little, but in the morning my stretch marks were really faded ! Of course, I hate them too, because I'm used to having great skin.

Here's the thing though, what does it really matter? Stretch marks, are stretch marks. A lot of people have them, and there's nothing anyone can do about them. Insecurity is all in the head, really. Love your body ! I'm really starting to accept the fact that I've got them, forever. Embrace it and find a way to overcome your sadness. Being sad doesn't help them go away.

Plus, I hear that if you shrink down (healthily)the marks will be almost invisible. Cool, huh? Bottom line: stay healthy !

I know I'm overweight majorly, so no one say anything about it. I'm 5'3" 170 pounds and I have stretch marks around my belly (obviously) and thighs. Also one on my back - what the heck. I don't like it. Obviously, I'm attempting to lose weight, but when I get to my goal, I don't want those ugly marks. I will, of course, try cocoa butter, because that seems to work, but I think just tanning regularly would help, meh? And staying fit.

i know how you guys feel...i used to be a car show model...everyone tell me how pretty i am and wish they have my body...and i would proudly say i love my body as well (((34DD - 24 1/2 - 34 1/2))) and i didn't think there have any problem when i was pregnant with my 1st child...when i go check up they will say "o u got a nice belly" i didn't know what they were talking about until when i was 7/8 months of pregnant...ppl tell me to use cocoa butter...which i did...it doesn't work i used Strivectin-D still didn't work...i went back the weight i used to be look prefect w/ clothes on...ppl asked me to do the car show modeling again...i can't even tell them i can't wear anything not to show my belly...i hated it so much...they get me wrong i love my kids (i have 2 now) i start to learn to get used to the stretch marks...i don't wear bikini for years now although i wear monokini which's even better and sexier...and forget about spending all those money on non-working cream n stuff...what a waste...

GOOD LUCK W/ EVERYONE!!!

i am only 13 and i have had stretch marks for about a year. i have them on my hips, upper thighs, stomach, breasts, and the bottom of my arms. i just have them because i gained a little weight last summer since i wasn't running around at school and stuff. the ones on my arms, breasts and upper thighs don't bother me as much, you can barely see them, but the ones on my stomach and hips really really bother me. they're long and bumpy and pinkish-red. they are so gross and i want to get rid of them so bad! i already lost 10 lbs and now i am back to the size i was before. im not self conscious about my weight or anything, but it just makes me so mad because i used to cream in the morning and in the night! but i still got stretch marks! and i really don't like that they are permanent. i would have watched my weight a lot more if i would have known that now i will never ever ever be able to wear a bikini ever again! and you can totally count out feeling comfortable naked. i am willing to spend money though. would i want to know is if i where to get the laser treatments or the cosmetic surgery, which one is better results/money wise???

Hi! I'm going to be 16 next month, and I'm actually not really sure how long I've had stretch marks for...at least a year though. I've always been really skinny and i gained about 15 lbs when i got my period for the first time...which wasnt bad because i was about 25 lbs underweight. I'm now 5'3" and 115lbs, but i have stretch marks on my butt, boobs, and inner/outer thighs. They aren't horrible, but they're definitely noticeable.

The advice here is really great because i wasnt sure of what i could use to help them fade. The only question i have for most of the advice given here is how often should you use each remedy?

once a day, twice a day?

Hello people,

I'm 22 years old and recently gave birth to my first child. I was left with horrible stretch marks on my stomach and breasts. I used cocoa butter throughout my pregnancy and found it made no difference. I also heard that rubbing Vix Vapour Rub in works. I have been using it for the past week and found that it hasn't worked yet but my skin feels so much better.

I get up in the morning and do 30 mins of cardio exercise, I then massage in the vapour rub for 15 mins and then massage olive oil in for another 5 mins. I then get into the shower and scrub the mixture off. After I get out I rub Bio-Oil onto them. I also rub another stretch mark cream in before I go to bed. I can't see a difference at the moment but like I said I've only been doing it for a week. My sister says it looks like they're starting to fade.

I've also heard that sunbathing works too!

Good luck ladies!

i am the age of 14 and i have had stretch marks for a couple years now. i don't even know when i got them. i have stretch marks on my hips, lower back, stomach and breasts. it amazes me that others have the same problem. i play basketball, softball and volleyball, and it is really embarrassing when you have to change in front of everyone. there are usually guys in the gym while we're practicing and we have 2 sided practice jerseys so we change during practice and i feel people staring at my stretch marks. I HATE IT... i am so self conscious about it and i just want them to leave my sight.

I'm 17 and I started noticing stretch marks on my breasts and inner thighs when I was 12 or 13 and I was horrified! Later, they spread across my butt and hips. but! While the stretch marks on my boobs used to be red, they turned white and shiny and now they seem to have almost disappeared. The ones on my thighs and butt are still going strong, but ya know. Here's hopin! :) Hang in there, girls. As for getting comfortable with your guy, I've been thinking over the same thing and I think the proper lighting will work wonders if you wanna be tricky about it, lol. I mean, if that's what it takes to get the ball rolling, it may help.

And by the way. I notice a lot of people are "scared". I think the best thing is to not be scared, but to revert the attention away from the stretch marks by working out and being happy! With an even workout, you can at least have a cute body, ya know? And it's proven that people who seem happy and confident are more attractive. Scared people are all droopy and sad-looking.

i am 14 and have stretch marks on my inner and outer thighs, also on my breasts and hips. People say live with it. how can i? i have had them for years now. my mom says nobody cares, what about guys or those "popular" girls... yeah i am a cheerleader but i am not popular. I ask my friends if they have any stretch marks (with out saying i do) and they usually say "PSHHhhh.. NO!!", i am already self conscious enough, when i have swim class i wear a cami over a bikini and shorts, I luv bikinis but how can i wear one if i have tons of stretch marks on my hips... its horrible they are so dark, and like some of them turn shiny and like white but I can still see them. someone help!!!

I thought i would be one of the few guys to chime in. I'm 19yrs old, 6'2", and currently weigh 240lbs. Last year i gained ~ 15-20 lbs of muscle in 6 months, so i started to get stretch marks on the back of my armpit/shoulder area as well the inside of arms (close to my biceps) because my arms and chest grew so fast. This year i gained about 20 lbs of fat in 4 months. and now i've got stretch marks on my belly and sides/back. I'm trying to lose the fat weight and i hope those stretch marks go away, but the ones on my arms have already turned white so i doubt they're going anywhere. I'm currently using cocoa butter cream on all of them but have seen minimal results.

To all the young girls out there, guys know you have stretch marks. If they're lucky enough to see those parts of you that have stretch marks they're pretty much not even going to notice them. And i hope all these comments help you realize your not the only one, and if you talk to your friends about it you may even find out what they're doing about their stretch marks. When i first started to get them my girlfriend was the first person i asked for advice.

Two words.. Bio-Oil. It didnt take the stretch marks away, but They are practically invisible. I`m 22 and have 2 wonderful children, and wouldnt change that for the world, but they wreaked havoc on my tummy and thighs. I had so many stretch marks i looked like a white on whiter zebra! I used bio oil religiously for a week and already saw a major difference. I know they`re still there, but they are much easier to deal with now. It worked for me when cocoa butter did nothing. I sent some to my mother, aged 52, and she had me send a bottle for each of her friends. Its great, its cheap, and you can put it in your bath! I hope this helps someone.

I have found that using a loofah and emu oil (i know it sounds weird) worked really well on my stretch marks. I would just rub myself down in the shower everyday with the loofah for no more than a few minutes then applied the emu oil to my skin right when i got out. I did it for about 2 weeks and my stretch marks drastically reduced. The emu oil i bought is from ebay from Ginny's Cajun Store/Emu Oil Products. The Australian kind is supposed to be a little bit more potent than just the US stuff. Give it a try or research the oil. it really is great stuff.

bio-oil or jamieson vitamin e pure oil works.

Right I'm 14 years old girl, with the height of 5'9 .. I absolutely hate my stretch marks! When I get changed for P.E it's so embarrassing. people have passed some comments about them but I just ignore them. I have them on the back of my knees, inner thighs, and around my bum area. I'm going to try Bio-Oil as I have a bottle, I just hope this works.

I'm 14 and I noticed a few months ago while shopping with my mom, that I had very slight stretch marks on my inner thighs. it's really making me self conscious about this summer :[ I'm 5'5 and 120 lbs. I could lose a tiny bit of weight, but it's just making me feel so down and fat D:

First of all, I am 17 and have gained a lot of weight in the past year. My boyfriend of 1 1/2 years eats a lot, and I began to eat socially with him..so yeah. Anyways, what I'd like to say is that I got lots of stretch marks and I swear by this lotion called biotherm biovergetures. It works really well! Reduces redness in all my stretch marks. It's $45 for a good sized bottle. I'd recommend it to anyone! Good luck!
