If you want to get rid of blackheads, you first need to understand what causes them. Blackheads are caused when pores become clogged with excess oil; the black color is not caused by dirt, but rather by the oil oxidizing through contact with the air. Cleaning the surface of your skin will do little to get rid of them, but there are other steps you can take.

The best way to get rid of blackheads is to prevent blackheads. Avoid using thick, greasy products. Use a water-soluble cleanser. Avoid using bar soap because the ingredients can clog the pores in your skin. Exfoliate often.
To remove blackheads that you have involves removing the “stuff” inside of them. First, scrub your face mildly to remove dead skin cells. Pat your face dry. Place a warm rag on your face for about ten minutes. Place a piece of Kleenex on the tip of your fingers and gently apply pressure to both sides of the blackhead. The pressure should come from underneath the blackhead. If the blackhead doesn’t pop easily, do not keep trying. You could bruise your skin.
Oily skin should not avoid cleansers containing oils: in fact, "oil removes oil" !!!
Take a look at Japanese skincare for cleansing (mass market and prestige brands have the same types of products): they all use an oil-based cleanser (cleansing oils, cleansing creams) followed by a foaming soap! Oil removes oil (and makeup) then the foam delicately exfoliates and removes dusts and possible bacteria.
