Hey everyone - What’s the best mattress topper you’ve found? I’m thinking of buying one for my daughter who insists on sleeping on an old coil spring mattress. I really want to see her get a good night’s sleep! There are so many different mattress toppers out there and they can be pretty pricey so I want to make sure I’m getting the best one. Any suggestions?

The SOPAT mattress topper is a great choice for making an old, stiff mattress feel like new. It’s got several inches of cushiony depth, which makes my firm mattress much more comfy. And it isn't hot like all the memory foam mattress toppers I've tried in the past. I was worried the SOPAT would flatten out but this one actually keeps its depth. I’ve also tried it on our sofa bed, and it makes a huge difference!
I’m totally on board with the SOPAT mattress topper. It’s incredibly soft and fluffy.I bought one because I didn’t want to splash out on a pricey pillow top mattress. The cotton fabric is surprisingly breathable, so I don’t wake up feeling hot and uncomfortable. It has a deep pocket that tucks underneath even the tallest mattress (mine is 21”), and the elastic does a good job of keeping it in place.
I’m very glad I gave the SOPAT topper a try. It’s much better than my old memory foam mattress topper that used to radiate heat and was impossible to wash. I love how I can just throw this one into the washing machine whenever I need to. It’s been a really nice change to wake up feeling rested.
@Erica Cobb, how well does the SOPAT mattress topper survive the washing machine cycle?
Absolutely fine. I wash mine about once a month. It’s never been damaged, and the microfiber filling doesn’t bunch up, either. I usually tumble dry it afterwards.
I second the SOPAT suggestion! My mother has one and she says it’s helped with back pain, which used to keep her up at night. This has saved her from having to buy an expensive new mattress.

I recommend the KARRISM mattress topper, but only if you have a foam pad underneath. This topper is really plush, but it’s not supportive enough on its own to compensate for a hard mattress.... I sleep on a memory foam pad with the KARRISM on top. It’s much cooler now that there’s an extra layer between me and the memory foam!Read more
I have a KARRISM mattress topper. I’ve had bad experiences with really squishy memory foam toppers that have actually made my hip pain worse. I just wanted a little bit of extra cushioning on top of my mattress, ... and that’s what the KARRISM provides. It has a really luxurious feel and the quilted design ensures that the filling stays in place and doesn’t become lumpy. Although I wish it was a bit thicker, the Modway mattress topper has made my old mattress significantly more comfortable. It’s a 2” layer of gel-infused memory foam inside a bamboo cover, ... so the fabric feels great and the support for my back and hips is pretty noticeable. Read more
The Modway mattress topper does a good job contouring to my body and alleviates some of the stress on pressure points at night. I’ve noticed that the pad has started to sag in some places,... but maybe that’s to be expected with memory foam.Read more
I would love to find a memory foam mattress topper that’s actually cool and breathable, but the Modway isn’t it. I do like the support it provides, but this topper is far too hot to sleep on, ... especially during the summer. Read more
@Irma Potter, I think that’s a problem with all memory foam mattresses and toppers. Switching to 100% cotton sheets and bedding could help a bit.

Have you heard of the Linenspa gel memory foam mattress topper? It was a good investment to improve the quality of my sleep without spending a lot of money.
I didn’t want to go through the hassle of buying a new mattress, so I recently bought a Linenspa mattress topper. I’m a side sleeper, so I hoped it would relieve some of the pressure on my hips. My husband and I had a similar problem with this mattress topper. It looked fine when we first unpacked it, but it went flat every time we slept on it, and we both woke up feeling sore. ... I guess you get what you pay for, considering it was a lot cheaper than some other toppers.Read more
@Teri May, that’s really unfortunate, I haven’t had any major issues with the Linenspa topper. It does seem to trap a lot of body heat, though.

If you want to improve the feel of your mattress without spending an arm and a leg, I would recommend the Lucid Gel Memory Foam topper. It’s done wonders for my creaky old bed. Like all memory foam products... , it gets pretty warm, but that hasn’t been enough of an issue to stop me from getting a decent night’s sleep.Read more
I bought this because my mattress was too stiff, but now I basically have the opposite problem. It’s impossible to avoid sinking into this topper, which makes it difficult to move around and change positions.
My wife and I sleep on a Lucid Gel mattress topper whenever we stay with our in-laws, and I can’t say I look forward to the experience. Although it looks really plush and comfortable,... it doesn’t provide enough support. We basically get swallowed up when we lay down. My wife doesn’t mind so much, but maybe that’s because she sleeps on her back. Read more
@Jamison Wallace, just out of curiosity, do you have the 2” or the 3” topper? In my experience, thinner memory foam toppers are less marshmallow-like.

Unlike cheaper memory foam mattress toppers, the Tempur-Pedic is dense enough to actually support your body weight. However, it’s nowhere near as good as having a real Tempur-Pedic mattress. ... The topper works fine if you have a decent mattress underneath, but it won’t make up for a saggy mattress or one where you can feel the springs. This is always going to be an expensive option, but Amazon had a pretty decent discount going when I bought mine.Read more
