I just got the cordless Andis Envy with the lithium battery and it’s great, especially if you need a trimmer for travel. Super lightweight, feels like I don’t have to charge it that often. I have a short beard that needs trimming every two or three days and this one gives a precise cut. The attachments clip on and off easily - and it comes with a full set. Overall, this is a great buy. It has already outlasted the expensive, big name brands I’ve tried in the past.

@Gregg Barnes How often do you have to charge it? Would be great to not have to pack the full kit for travel. Also, does it work for fades?

@Sampson Chambers I charge it about once a week out of habit. Seems to last a couple of hours at least. I travel for work a lot and usually pack the charger just to be safe. But generally I wind up not needing it. I also use it for tapering (not fade). It works great.

@Gregg Barnes Can you do a “fade” with the Andis Envy? I want to buy one as a gift and I need a fade attachment.

Yes, but he’ll need to adjust the blade. There’s a lever on the side of the clipper. It’s easy to do.

I agree, the Andis lithium battery is awesome. Charges fast and lasts long. Feels solid but is still light. Does everything it should and well. I use this several times a week with no problems and have had it several months.

This is a great trimmer - and quiet! I wake up earlier than my wife and she appreciates not hearing a loud buzz from the bathroom in the morning. It’s also easy to adjust (zero gap) and it comes with several attachments. Can’t beat it.

@Dominick Derrickson Great to know, thank you!

This trimmer is really sharp and cuts through beard hair fast. I’m a little disappointed that I don’t feel comfortable using this anywhere else on my body, though. If you like a ... rotating dial then you might find changing lengths harder. It comes with several attachments but I don’t use most of them. Tried the nose trimmer but I may be using it wrong because it doesn’t seem to work at all. Read more

I’ve used Norelco for years and am a loyal customer. You can’t go wrong with the men’s grooming kit. The blades are really sharp and great for coarse beard hair. The battery also ... has a really long life. You do have to change the attachments when you want to trim to a different length (instead of using the old rotating dial). Using them takes some getting used to but once you get the hang of it, changing them is fast. Read more

@Adam D How sharp are the blades? Is this safe to use on the body or only on the face?

This trimmer works really well for me but the pros/cons may weigh differently for others. I wanted it for travel and the USB charging aspect is convenient - but it does not ... come with an adapter. Not a problem for me but others might want to be aware of it. On the plus side, I really like the dial that allows you to precisely control beard length.Read more

The best thing about this trimmer is the USB attachment! Great for travel because it’s lightweight and I don’t have to pack extra gear. I have a short, well-trimmed beard so ... need to use this every day, and it keeps me looking neat and tidy. Just make sure to keep a plug transformer nearby since they don’t include one with the trimmer.Read more

@Hugo Ansel Agree, the USB charger makes this trimmer awesome. I also like that the charge lasts a long time and I don’t have to leave it on my bathroom counter every day.

I was excited to get this trimmer after my old Wahl died. The blade is really sharp and cuts through coarse hair quickly. It’s very powerful, but on the flip side it seems heavier and louder ... than my old trimmer. Be aware that the instructions on how to change the attachments aren’t clear.Read more

@Jamison Wallace I also like Wahl clippers! I use them on my dog, haha. Is it easy to adjust the attachments?

64

Jamison Wallace

@Sampson Chambers Not really. The instructions could be better and the plastic parts make it easier to break the teeth. But if you’re familiar with Wahl you should be fine.

My husband bought a rechargeable Braun beard trimmer last year because he heard it was good for precision trims and he really liked it at first, but I feel I should warn you that the first one we bought only lasted a couple of months. I ended up having to buy him a different trimmer for Christmas.

@Janie Hernandez What happened? Braun is a good brand

Janie Hernandez

@Sampson Chambers It was the on/off button. The battery charged fine but it would shut off automatically when using certain attachments.

@Joey Fromm I don’t see guards. Do you have to buy them separately?

@Sampson Chambers I think so, I don’t need them so never thought about it
