What is the best baby crib?

Hey everyone - What's the best baby crib you've found? My son will be born soon and I'd like something comfy and safe for him, that will still last a while, if possible. There ... are so many different types of baby cribs out there and they can be pretty pricey so I want to make sure I'm getting the best one. Any suggestions?Read more

We've had the Million Dollar Baby Classic Crib for almost 5 years. Lots of cribs convert to toddler beds, but this one also converts to a full-sized bed! We just transitioned our son to the full bed, and he loves it. It's made of real wood and sturdy—it has held up great through all these years of use. The crib also features a convenient storage drawer underneath—perfect for crib sheets, blankets, etc. There are four levels you can adjust the crib mattress to, so we used it right from the beginning, when my son was a newborn, and just moved the mattress down till we were ready to transition to toddler bed (and now full bed!). With its real wood design, assembly is best (but simple) with two people. And the style is gorgeous! Such an elegant, unique charm, with lovely curves and details on the edges. A perfect look for our son's bedroom, even as it's evolved the last few years.

@Lisa Bishop, sounds great! Were you really able to convert through all these phases without having to make any additional purchases?

@Ashlyn Kimball, everything that's included equips the crib for all phases from newborn to toddler use. We did have to purchase their conversion kit to transition to a full bed. It is so convenient to be able to have it all in one like this!

My wife and I are so glad we found the Million Dollar Baby crib for our second child. Kids grow so fast, and it seems like we're constantly having to buy new products to fit them! It adds up—in expense and clutter—so we love that we'll be able to use it for years with our baby without having to purchase a new bed all the time like we've done with our first.

I just purchased the Million Dollar Baby crib and it was easy to set up with just me and my husband. It is the perfect addition to our nursery set we're preparing for our little one, who's due any day now. I love it's classic look—beautiful, but still timeless and versatile to stay relevant through the years as styles and our child's preferences change. I'm super happy with the purchase and would definitely recommend!

The Graco Benton crib has worked great for us so far. Our 2-year-old has used it through all the crib stages and is now sleeping in it as a toddler bed. We're planning to purchase the frame and ... conversion kit so we can use this as the headboard and footboard for her "big girl bed!" It's got a cute, simple style that can blend in with any bedroom decor. No complaints here!Read more

@Idelle Nash, how was your experience setting up the crib when you first got it? Was it difficult?

Idelle Nash

@Luanna Welch, it was a little tricky. I had to set it up by myself, and there were no written assembly instructions—only images. So I had to very carefully decipher each ... step. It took some work, but I got it done okay in the end.Read more

We just bought the Delta Children crib for our baby due soon. We are excited to have a crib that would last with her through toddlerhood and childhood, though the conversion requires ... you to purchase additional parts.Read more

Delta Children's crib is a nice choice. It has a classic style and was fairly easy to put together—with clear instructions, it only took my wife and I about 30 minutes to get it ... fully assembled. It does have a strong chemical smell that has been lingering, despite our open windows and blowing fans. We hope the smell will fade by the time our newborn son is ready to move from his bassinet to the crib. Read more

We like the Delta Children crib. Just a tip: keep a step stool handy! The sides of the crib are quite tall, and even at 5'9", I had to stand on my toes and bend in a way that hurt my ... back to place my baby into the crib—and that's at its highest setting! With a stool or a tall husband, you should be just fine. Read more

It's not a permanent crib, but if you're looking for a smaller travel style, you could consider the MiClassic bassinet. It probably won't stand up to nightly use, but it's good to ... have when you travel or if you need something in a pinch. It stores up fairly easily—just folds right down the middle. And it's nice to be able to make it rock or stay still.Read more

@Alex Pak, did your MiClassic look different from the picture? Our bassinet has two strips of solid fabric down each side instead of the mesh. The lump in the middle of the ... mattress (where it folds) caused my newborn daughter to roll to the side, and her face was right up against the fabric! I'm afraid to use this again, due to the risk of SIDS.Read more

@Lynn Schnur, mine is totally mesh all the way around. I suppose they could've changed it recently, as I received mine a while ago. Hopefully you are able to use yours for ... something—perhaps just for nap times or trips to grandma's house. But, of course, your daughter's safety comes first. Read more

My wife and I were excited about the Stokke Sleepi mini crib we used for our son. It saved a lot of space, and we liked the style. He's now outgrown it, so we purchased the ... kit to extend the crib—which is about as pricey as the initial mini crib. Once it's extended, there's no place to attach the drape rod, so we'll have to stop using it. If I were to do it again, I might choose something less expensive that lasts longer. Read more

@Atieno Kayode, were you ever able to find sheets that fit the mattress? I've looked everywhere, but the only place I can find sheets that fit this unique oval shape is on Etsy ... (for a lot of money). Read more

@Roxanna Moses, yes, we had the same problem. At first, we just washed the sheet it came with really often. Then when my wife felt up to it, she decided to make some that ... have fit well. Good luck!Read more

We've used the Dream On Me mini crib, and it's worked well enough. When our daughter was old enough to gnaw on the sides, the paint chipped and got everywhere—so we bought some rail ... guards so she couldn't do that anymore. Now that she's 4, we're ready to convert to a twin bed—but we realized that Dream On Me doesn't actually sell a matching frame and conversion kit. It took quite a bit of searching on our own to finally find one that will fit well. Read more

My husband and I were excited to receive our Dream On Me mini crib. It is such a cute style and perfect size, but getting it set up was quite a process. Assembly instructions ... were simple enough. The problem was actually that it arrived with broken parts. It took a long time to get a response from customer service so we could get replacements and put this together. Read more
