Today, reinforced concrete is one of the most common building materials in the world for both entire buildings and key structural elements that need to be able to withstand substantial stress.

Other materials, including plastics, fibers, and glass, can also be used to make concrete stronger. I know of at least one odd building that uses a reinforced concrete design. I used to go to the University of Illinois, and Assembly Hall, where they play basketball, always interested me. The building is shaped like a flying saucer, but the ceiling looks like some type of fiberglass material. After reading this article, I can be fairly certain that the building is made of fiberglass reinforced concrete.
This is very interesting considering I recently visited the Gateway Arch in St. Louis. Before you ride to the top, they show you a video about the construction of the arch.
The outside is a layer of steel, but inside is steel reinforced concrete. It's amazing how they can use something like concrete to create such a huge structure that is still safe. Not to mention that the inside is hollow so that people can travel to the top.
I'm sure there are plenty of other odd-shaped buildings that use reinforced concrete.
