Niche affiliate marketing is an affiliate marketing strategy in which the marketer focuses his or her efforts on a certain niche, or category. As with overall affiliate marketing, this strategy focuses on placing affiliate ads on a relevant website and obtaining traffic to find potential buyers. Most affiliate marketers participate in niche affiliate marketing. Before jumping into a niche, experienced marketers will check search engines for competition and ensure there is traffic for the niche.

Just as the name implies, niche affiliate marketing is affiliate marketing slanted toward a niche, or particular area. For example, instead of focusing on a single affiliate or a bunch of affiliates on different topics, the marketer will choose a topic, such as Web hosts or clothing. After picking a category, the affiliate marketer will look for affiliates that fit the niche and will sign up for their affiliate programs.

The marketer will then search for keywords that fit the niche and will scan for competition. By finding keywords that get a large amount — or at least a moderate amount — of traffic, the affiliate marketer knows there is potential for money. The larger priority is competition. If there are powerful websites at the top of search engines that allow no room for competition, the marketer will typically move on to another niche, because it would take too much time and effort to make a profitable website.

Niche affiliate marketing usually uses content websites, or websites that feature articles, to get traffic and make money. These articles are written using the appropriate keywords, and the affiliate’s code is added directly to the article or ads are placed around the website. The marketer is paid when someone clicks the affiliate ad and buys a product. While content websites are the most common, game websites and business websites that list the affiliate’s products can also be used.

Regardless of what type of website the marketer creates, making a site relevant to the niche is usually more successful than one that is irrelevant. For example, if the marketer makes a content website with articles about art, but uses ads about cars, this will typically get a very low amount of clicks. That is because the ads do not match the common visitor’s interests.

Most affiliate marketers participate in niche affiliate marketing, because it most often matches how people use the Internet. When someone searches the Internet for a topic, he or she is often looking for similar information on the same topic. By creating a niche affiliate website, the marketer is able to keep that person’s interest for longer and has a higher chance of garnering a commission.
