Buckles, another fruit dessert, involve a cakelike dough which is poured into the bottom of the pan before the fruit. Other related desserts include the grunt or buckle, the brown petty, and the pandowdy.

@donasmrs-- Have you ever made tart cherry cobbler. You can make it with Morello cherries which are perfect. They're sold frozen or in jars. You might be able to get them fresh too if they're in season. I love making cherry cobbler with tart cherries. Of course, I add sugar, so it's not extremely tart, but it really adds a nice touch.

Like the article said, you can also add spices to the filling or to the crust. You could for example, make a cinnamon and sugar topping similar to the one made for coffee cake.

I also serve cherry cobbler with vanilla ice cream sometimes. There are actually lots of different things you could do if you use your imagination.

I make cherry cobbler all the time but I think I need to experiment with it a little bit. It's getting a bit boring.

My mom never made cobbler for us growing up, but it was served at the cafeteria often when I was in college. So I started loving cobbler. My favorite is cherry cobbler, although I do get a craving for peach cobbler sometimes.

There is just something very comforting about warm cobbler. It's like pie, but even better because of the crumbs, and the cherry filling is just divine. My cherry cobbler recipe is very sweet and it has to be served warm. I can't eat it cold for some reason. I think the aroma and flavor is better when it's warm.
