Blended oils are combinations of essential oils used for massage and in aromatherapy. By blending two or more oils, it is possible to achieve a scent that can help promote a specific reaction, such as easing tension or enhancing mood. It is possible to buy blended oil or to purchase single oils and combine them at home.

One of the basic concepts of aromatherapy is that scents have healing properties that can stimulate the production of various chemicals in the brain. Each essential oil gathered from nature is understood to produce some type of positive effect on the mind and the body. By combining one or more of these oils into a measured blend, it is possible to enhance the effect of the oil therapy and bring the individual more relief from whatever ailment he or she is dealing with.

Many people prefer to use blended oil products that are professionally prepared. One of the reasons for this is consistent quality of the product. Since the amounts used of each oil in the blend are the same every time, it is reasonable to expect the product will have the same aroma with each new vial or bottle of oil.

They may choose to utilize two parts of one oil today, but tomorrow prefer to only use one part of that oil while adding a totally new oil to the mix in order to achieve a slightly different response.

Whether purchased in pre-mixed formulas or combined at home, blended oil is used to help with a number of different emotional and physical issues. One of the more popular applications is to help ease tension and calm the nervous system. For this purpose, the oil may use cloves, rosemary, lemon or cinnamon bark in the combination.

There are also oil formulas intended to help with physical issues. A common blended oil for use when bruises are present is Roman and German chamomile, French lavender, and carrot seed. Helicrysum can also be introduced into the mixture.

For general well-being, a blended oil may contain elements like cinnamon, spruce, ginger, cloves and orange. Frankincense, myrrh, and patchouli can also be included. Combinations of this type are said to help balance the activity of the mind with that of the body and bring about a state of total harmony.

It is even possible to use blended oil to deal with mosquitoes and other airborne insects while outside. A simple combination of lemon and vanilla is thought to ward off the pests while still leaving a pleasant scent on the skin. For people who do not like to apply commercial chemical products to the skin, this oil recipe can be especially attractive.

It is possible to purchase blended oil in many health food and vitamin stores. Online retailers also offer a wide range of single and blended oil combinations as well as recipes for creating unique combinations at home. The prices for the blended products vary, depending on the number and type of oils combined in the formula.
