There are many different health advocate services that need to be provided. But sadly often the people who most need advocates have the hardest time finding them. These include the poor, elderly and the mentally handicapped. These people are both naturally marginalized in our society and more susceptible to health conditions.
The frustrating thing is that health advocacy is supposed to have a social component to it but too often the people who most need help are the least likely to receive it. Health advocacy, like many aspects of the health care industry, is corrupted by money.
