The 3 day diet plan is a system that instructs dieters to eat a very specific menu of foods for breakfast, lunch, and dinner over the course of three days. This diet plan is based on the combination of certain foods and the reduction of one's caloric intake. In fact, the caloric intake is so low that some people criticize the 3 day diet plan as being basically a system of starvation. Others hail the 3 day diet plan as a great way to lose weight quickly. It is often advertised as a way to lose up to ten pounds in three days.

During the first day of the 3 day diet plan, breakfast consists of half of a grapefruit and two tablespoons of peanut butter on a slice of toast. For lunch on the first day, the dieter may have another slice of toast along with half a cup of tuna. Dinner on the first day of the 3 day diet plan is one cup of beets, one cup of string beans, and seven slices of any kind of lunch meat. A small apple and one cup of vanilla ice cream can be enjoyed for dessert.

On the second day of the 3 day diet plan, the dieter may have half of a banana with one hard-boiled egg and a slice of toast. Lunch is three saltine crackers and a cup of cottage cheese. Dinner is a half of a cup of carrots, one cup of broccoli, two hot dogs without buns. For dessert, one cup of vanilla ice cream.

For the final day of the 3 day diet plan, the dieter may have a small apple, three saltine crackers, and one slice of cheddar cheese. For lunch, the plan calls for one hard-boiled egg with a slice of toast. On the third day, dinner consists of one cup of cauliflower, one cup of beets, and one cup of tuna. Half a cantaloupe and one cup of vanilla ice cream are on the menu for dessert.

Throughout the 3 day diet plan, dieters can consume as much black coffee or unsweetened tea as they like. Some versions of the diet indicate that the use of artificial sweeteners is acceptable. Others do not. During the 3 day diet plan, it is important to drink plenty of water, which may be flavored with lemon juice. Remember to consult a medical professional before beginning any kind of diet plan.
