To optimize the exchange of information among employees, many companies will utilize a network of computers and related equipment. For example, a call center may implement a software program that keeps all client information in a central file. Consequently, it's the job of a junior system administrator to ensure that each computer's hardware and software is installed correctly. He must also make sure that every computer is successfully connected to the network.

Training personnel on the use of computers, equipment and software is another integral part of being a junior system administrator. Since some software can be complex and specialized for a particular company, he must make sure that everyone is familiar with how to use it.
