A business process analyst is responsible for providing management infrastructure and special expertise pertaining to managerial standards, ideal business practices, and the implementation of systems for product development and distribution. This individual is tasked with establishing and improving internal systems by applying business know-how to the systems design process. The person in this position also coordinates data collection and research, as well as information modeling pertaining to business needs.

Overseeing conflict resolution meetings is a key task of the business process analyst. She works with others in the organization to help develop an environment for constructive communication and feedback. This person helps assist the decision-making process at the managerial level by providing, as well as discussing, business strategy implementation. She also identifies policy and procedural issues within business systems and suggests changes.

The business process analyst develops and keeps records of all data and documentation relating to the development of key business functions. She is able to review system documentation and point out the overall impact on the business infrastructure. This individual researches business processes and writes reports on the business requirements for sustained and successful use of these processes. She uses developmental and technical expertise to design and reform business application functions.

Testing and researching new and existing systems infrastructure projects is also handled by this individual. She consults on data migration activities and general troubleshooting questions. She confers with licensing bodies to identify specific business procedure requirements pertaining to a particular product or service and develops an application process that incorporates these requirements.

The business process analyst works with a large variety of managers and technical staff to coordinate and streamline business process functions. Creating substantive reports and diagrams plays an essential role in this task. She develops work-flow that makes the various processes more integrated and efficient. In larger businesses, the analyst will be assigned a team to help implement the same strategy across the organization.

This individual is often called upon to assist in problem-solving efforts relating to internal processes. The business process analyst must adhere to the needs of every department during the process-development period. In certain instances, the analyst will be assigned ad hoc tasks that fall under her field of knowledge. She remains one of the most integral members of a business organization and the primary source of expertise on business application systems.
