Pies, brownies and milk shakes are just a sampling of the food that can be made using malted milk balls. The candies are often crushed, chopped or blended for use in recipes. A variety of cookies and brownies can be made featuring malted milk balls, and the candies can also be used to make frozen treats and cupcakes.

Candy milkshakes are simple to make and only need three ingredients: malted milk balls, milk and vanilla ice cream. The ingredients are placed in a blender and blended until the candy is small enough to drink. Malted milk ball pie can be made by combining whipped topping, softened vanilla ice cream and crushed malted milk candy. The mixture is placed in a graham cracker crust and refrigerated. Malted milk bars can be made using coarsely chopped malted milk balls combined with butter and sugar. The mixture is baked, cooled and cut into bars.

A variety of brownies can be made featuring malted milk balls as an ingredient, including milk chocolate malt brownies and malted milk fudge brownies. Milk chocolate malt brownies feature milk chocolate chips, sugar and coarsely chopped malted milk balls. Malted milk fudge brownies are made with unsweetened chocolate, butter and brown sugar. For added richness, the brownies can be frosted and then garnished with malted candy pieces.

Malted milk cookies are made using crushed malted milk ball candies, vanilla and milk chocolate chips. The dough is refrigerated overnight, then rolled in small balls and baked. The cookies are dipped in melted chocolate and allowed to harden overnight. Another cookie recipe, pinata cookies, is made using chocolate-covered malted milk balls, sugar and flour. The cookies are baked, cooled, dipped in frosting and sprinkled with sugar.

Cupcakes can feature malted milk balls. A plain yellow cake mix serves as the base for cupcakes topped with malted milk butter cream frosting and garnished with coarsely crushed malted milk balls. The malted milk butter cream frosting is made using butter, confectioner's sugar and malted milk powder.

A variety of frozen treats can be created using malted milk balls, including chocolate malted ice cream torte and frozen malted dessert. The chocolate malted ice cream torte is made with a crust of crushed graham crackers, cinnamon and semi-sweet chocolate. The filling is made with marble fudge ice cream, milk powder and chocolate-covered malt balls combined in a blender. Frozen malted milk dessert features a combination of condensed milk, whipping cream and melted, unsweetened chocolate.

You can also make an extra chocolatey treat by adding crushed malted milk balls to melted chocolate. You can use milk or semi-sweet chocolate depending on your preference, and poor the mixture into candy molds for seasonal or holiday candies. This rich, sweet treat is especially great during the Easter holiday when malted milk balls are readily available.
