Thuja is the name of a genus of evergreen tree native to the United States. In homeopathy, thuja is used to care for many different conditions, such as skin problems, menstrual issues, respiratory illnesses, and urogenital problems. Common conditions like headaches, toothaches, acne, bacterial infections, and hair loss may also benefit from the use of thuja. Mental health problems like depression and stress can also be treated with this homeopathic remedy.

Native Americans in the United States and in Canada as well are thought to be the first to use thuja to help treat and cure illnesses and certain conditions. It is made from the twigs and leaves of the white cedar, or arborvitae, which the Native Americans would use for issues like coughing, menstrual problems, malaria, and headaches. When settlers came from Europe, they began to utilize the medicinal properties of the white cedar as well.

Many skin conditions may be treated with the use of thuja in homeopathy. It is used by many people to get rid of several different types of warts. Age spots, which appear as brown patches on the skin, are also often treated with this type of homeopathic remedy.

Problems with a woman’s menstrual cycle, such as periods that come early or too frequently may be treated with thuja in homeopathy. Likewise, women that have irregular or missed periods may benefit from the use of this remedy. Some women have also taken thuja to treat and get rid of cysts that have developed on their ovaries.

Respiratory problems like sinusitis and bronchitis can be treated with thuja in homeopathy. Many times, thuja is effective with respiratory issues that are chronic. This medicinal herb may also help to treat those who have asthma. Urogential issues that can be treated with thuja in homeopathy may include urinary infections, swollen urethras, and vaginal infections. This remedy may also be used to treat certain sexually transmitted diseases such as gonorrhea and herpes.

Thuja in homeopathy is also thought to help with cancer. It is believed to decrease the side effects that are often associated with cancer treatments like chemotherapy and radiation. Because it is a homeopathic treatment for mental health issues, it can also help cancer patients who are struggling with depression.

Another common problem that thuja is thought to treat effectively is the effects of vaccinations. Some homeopathic physicians recommend giving children who are going to be vaccinated a dose of thuja. It is used to prevent any bad side effects from occurring because of the vaccination.
