What are the Most Effective Homeopathic Remedies for Sinus Infections?

The best homeopathic remedies for sinus infections will depend on the cause of the infection and its severity. Common remedies include the use of steam and essential oils, immune boosting supplements, and drinking hot teas. Getting plenty of rest and avoiding irritants is also important at relieving and preventing sinus infections. There are also pre-made formulas which can also prove beneficial in sinus infections.

Most of the time, a sinus infection will clear up on its own without treatment. Doctors often prescribe antibiotics for sinus infections, but these are not always effective because many infections are caused by viruses or allergens, and neither of which is cured by antibiotics. There are pre-made homeopathic remedies for sinus infections on the market which combine several ingredients to alleviate symptoms and speed healing. These same ingredients can be taken separately.

Many natural supplements and foods contain antibacterial and antiviral properties which are used in homeopathic remedies for sinus infections. These can include oregano, mint, rosehip, garlic, and sage. Most of these items can be found in essential oils which can be added to a humidifier or boiling water. Breathing in the steam may help loosen congestion and relieve symptoms. They can also be added to many foods or hot teas.

Getting plenty of rest and drinking plenty of fluids may make homeopathic remedies for sinus infections more effective. This allows the body to heal itself faster and replenishes lost fluids. Sinus infections are a byproduct of a primary illness or infection, so treating the underlying issue will also speed recovery. A separate homeopathic combination may be needed in these cases.

Viral causes are generally not cured by homeopathic remedies for sinus infections, nor do they respond to conventional treatments. Viruses can only be killed by the body’s immune system. The immune response can be heightened by using supplements and vitamins which strengthen white blood cells and other immunities. Bacterial, allergen induced, and fungal sinus infections also generally heal on their own.

Homeopathic remedies can also be used in the prevention of sinus infections in some cases. Allergens are a common cause of infection, and patients may feel relief if they slowly expose themselves to the things they are allergic to over a period of time. This can be done in a variety of ways. For example, eating raw honey from one’s area exposes one to allergens in small amounts because they are contained the honey.

I recently asked my mom how to treat a sinus infection as she always seems to know what to do and she had some really good advice. My mom is big into aromatherapy and apparently if you add eucalyptus or menthol oil to a bowl of boiling water than breathe in the steam it will help your sinus feel a lot better.

Another trick she told me that works as a great sinus infection home remedy is to enjoy some hot mustard on a sandwich or eat something that requires you to use a bit of Japanese wasabi. Both of these foods are great at relieving sinus pressure and clearing up your nose.

@popcorn - I understand how you are feeling. I hate the symptoms of a sinus infection because all of them point to lasting discomfort. What you can try to drink to help is some nice hot green tea. Pretty much any hot liquid will do the trick, but I find that the other health benefits of green tea make it a good choice to help you feel better.

What you want to achieve is nice moist nasal passages. You can eat chicken noodle soup and place a nice warm towel over your face when you rest. All of these things will help bring relief to your swollen sinuses and help you to clear your infection much faster.

Can anyone recommend some good teas that would help with my treatment of a sinus infection?

Right now I am on antibiotics that my doctor prescribed but I find that aren't doing anything and I am still feeling miserable. I am hoping that by trying some more natural remedies for a sinus infection that I will be able to get better quicker and not feel so sick. My poor head is completely congested and everything hurts. I am convinced my aching sinus cavities are going to do me in soon if I can't fix things myself. I am willing to try just about anything to feel better.
