Netbook cases come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Some of them are quite simple, including netbook cases that are simply thick fabric sleeves that fit snugly about the device. They are usually designed with just one open and and a closure that is made either of Velcro® or of a zipper. A few of the models come with exterior or interior pockets for storing documents, business cards, or pens. These kinds of netbook cases are good for people who plane to put their netbooks in a larger bag such as a backpack, purse, or tote bag.

Other netbook cases are more like small briefcases. In addition to having a snug sleeve that fits the netbook, these kinds of netbook cases also have a shoulder strap. It is common for these cases to also have additional storage. Instead of just being able to hold a few documents or pens, these shoulder bags can also sometimes accommodate books, notebooks, binders, keys, and all sorts of other objects that people on the go need to have with them.

After purchasing a useful piece of technology, many people want to purchase accessories to keep their new electronic device in good condition. There are, for example, cases for iPods® of all varieties, BlackBerries®, and various other portable electronics. The same is true for netbook. Netbook cases are a great way to keep this kind of portable technology in good shape, even through the wear and tear of daily use and travel.

There are also backpacks, briefcases, and shoulder bags that can accommodate much more material but also have a sleeve for a netbook case. These sorts of bags function as netbook cases but also have carrying capacity for quite a bit more. These models are good for students who have to travel with lots of books and notebooks, researchers who carry the same sorts of loads, and anyone who needs extra space in their satchel in addition to a sleeve for a netbook.

The most important feature in netbook cases is durability. In order to keep the netbook in good condition, netbooks must be able to take a good amount of wear and tear. A good way to choose the best case is to purchase one from a reputable luggage company or purchase one that has received positive customer reviews and consumer reports. These sorts of reviews and reports can be found online after completing a simple web search.

@Terrificli -- But one of the very reasons people use netbooks is because they are so small and unobtrusive. For people interested in that, a slip cover case might make a very good choice. It won't offer as protection as a scaled down laptop bag, but it keep in mind that netbooks are pretty darned tough on their own.

Besides, a netbook that has been used a lot will get a bit banged up regardless of what kind of case you put it in.

A big problem with netbook cases is that there is a temptation to get one of those very small, slipcover things because they are thin and light. They don't offer a whole lot of protection, though, when compared to cases with padding, pockets and other things that put protection between that fragile netbook and the outside world.
