I have a neighbour who encroached on my property substantially with their new building. They partially demolished my fence at the back of the garden, without my knowledge or consent. When they started building, I complained to the Council, who gave them permission to do so at the time. I have been told by the Council that it's nothing to do with them. It is a civil matter.
This happened over three years ago. Since then I have protested with letters, found mediation and so on, but nothing has been done; now they do not want to rectify their mistake. At the time they based themselves on the Ordnance Survey Map, even though I told them it does not count, that it shows the features, etc.
Now they probably realise they made a mistake but now they just want to me to forget it, but it shows by the electronic map the gross encroachment which affects the value of my property.
I would be very grateful if someone could let me know what action I have to take to sort out this situation. --L/M
