There are many different types of healthy vegan meals that are free of meat or dairy products. Vegan meals by nature are pretty healthy, as long as people are sure to get enough protein in their diets, and avoid saturated fats and sugar. The cornerstones of healthy vegan meals typically include whole grains and vegetables; protein can come from soy products such as tofu, as well as nuts, seeds or beans. Vegan meals should include a lot of variety and seasonings; there is no reason for them to be bland or uninteresting. While more traditional meals might contain one main dish and a number of side dishes, different types of vegan meals are often comprised of a number of smaller dishes to add variety.

In order for healthy vegan meals to be satisfying, they should generally contain a sizable amount of fiber and protein. Fortunately, vegan foods that are highest in protein are also frequently high in fiber, such as beans. Beans are filling, can be used in many different ways in different dishes, and are easy to cook. They are also quite inexpensive and easy to purchase in bulk. Other filling ingredients often found in healthy vegan meals include whole grains, such as brown rice or wheat pasta.

In addition to these standard whole foods, there are now many other options for vegan eaters to use for substitutions of other animal-based foods. For instance, vegan mayonnaise, vegan cheese, and imitation meat products are also available, which are typically made with soy and vegetables. With a little bit of creativity and willingness to try new things, there are virtually limitless options for healthy vegan meals.
