Ranunculus is a small flower with many petals that is available in a wide variety of colors. The shape and texture of ranunculus make it a flower that can be used on its own in a bouquet, or combined with other flowers for a mixed arrangement. Before making a ranunculus bouquet, the leaves should be removed from the stems, and the stems should be submerged in water to hydrate the cut flowers. If making a bouquet of only ranunculus, it is important to be prepared to deal with many stems, as there is only one flower per stem, and the ranunculus is small in size. Scissors, rubber bands, ribbon, and floral pins are usually necessary to create a ranunculus bouquet.

The best time to purchase ranunculus for a bouquet is in the spring, when it is in season. They can be found in many colors, such as white, red, orange, and purple, which generally makes it possible to coordinate a ranunculus bouquet with any color scheme. The bouquet can be made with a single color of ranunculus, or colors can be mixed for an interesting effect. A ranunculus bouquet is also often made with the addition of other flowers, like roses and peonies.

Any leaves on a ranunculus stem should be removed prior to putting a bouquet together. This type of flower requires a lot of water, so it is recommended that the stems are soaked in cool water before the flowers are incorporated into an arrangement. For best results, the flowers need 24 hours in water, but they are generally fine if they only get five or six hours. Failure to hydrate the flowers may result in blooms that wilt when placed in a bouquet.

If making a bouquet using only ranunculus, many stems are required. Ranunculus is a small flower, and there is only one flower per stem. For a typical standard-size ranunculus bouquet, between 40 and 60 stems may be needed. To begin making a bouquet, four flowers should be held together at equal height, and additional flowers should be placed around them. Three to six rows of flowers like this typically results in a full, dome-shaped arrangement.

When all of the flowers are arranged in the bouquet, a rubber band can be used to secure them. The end of a ribbon should be placed under the rubber band, and then wrapped around the stems. The ribbon is used both for decoration and as a way to hide the rubber bands. Floral pins can be used to hold the ribbon in place. After the ranunculus bouquet is wrapped, scissors should be used to trim the bottom of all of the stems to equal length.
