Cooking chicken in a convection oven has many advantages over using a regular oven for baking or roasting chicken. Convection ovens usually require less time and lower temperatures, making meal preparation faster and more energy efficient. Whole chicken should be cooked for about 15 minutes per pound in a convection oven heated to 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celcius). When roasting chicken wings in a convection oven, pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (180 degrees Celcius) and cook the wings for about 35 to 45 minutes. Thicker chicken pieces, like chicken breasts and thighs, will generally require a longer cooking time than chicken wings and backs.

When cooking a whole chicken in a convection oven, the preparation is the same as when cooking a whole chicken in a regular oven. The difference is in how long the chicken will be cooked, and the temperature to which the oven will be set. As a general rule, cooking a chicken in a convection oven requires lower temperatures and less cooking time than it would take in a regular oven. Before cooking, pre-heat the convection oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celcius), and cook the chicken for about 15 minutes per pound. That should be long enough to cook the chicken thoroughly, and make sure the skin will be nicely brown.

Roasting chicken wings in a convection oven will require a different temperature setting and cooking time than cooking a whole chicken will. To start, the convection oven is pre-heated to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celcius). Also, instead of cooking time being determined by the weight of the chicken, the wings are cooked for between 35 to 45 minutes. The wings should be checked frequently as they near the end of cooking time to make sure they don’t burn.

While cooking chicken breasts in a convection oven is similar to cooking other chicken pieces, there are differences. As a general rule, thicker chicken pieces, like chicken breasts or thighs, will need to cook a little longer than chicken backs or wings. One easy chicken recipe using chicken breasts is to dip the chicken breasts in milk, and then dip them in a dry mixture of flour and spices. Place the coated chicken breasts on a baking sheet that’s been sprayed with cooking spray, then place in a convection oven that’s been pre-heated to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (180 degrees Celcius). Cook for about 40 to 45 minutes until done. Whenever cooking chicken in a convection oven, check to make sure the internal temperature of the chicken has reached at least 165 degrees Fahrenheit (74 degrees Celcius). This is the best way to ensure that the chicken has cooked thoroughly and is safe to eat.
