One of the best homeopathic cures for bacterial vaginosis includes a peroxide and water douche, along with taking folic acid supplements and acidophilus. Some women have found success by inserting acidophilus into the vagina while using this treatment, but many prefer to only take oral supplements. Other homeopathic cures include tea tree oil, taking goldenseal herb, and garlic.

Many people cite hydrogen peroxide as being one of the most effective homeopathic cures for bacterial vaginosis. By preparing a douche consisting of hydrogen peroxide and water, women have discovered that the malodorous discharge associated with the condition quickly disappears. Medical researchers have also discovered this to be a low-cost, effective home remedy. Not only does it appear to cure the symptoms of this particular vaginal infection, but it helps in restoring the natural pH in that area.

Folic acid supplements are also considered to be among the best homeopathic cures for this condition. Often, this home remedy is practiced alongside douching with hydrogen peroxide. Women who are deficient in folic acid have found that this nutritional remedy helps to heal bacterial vaginosis, as well as other symptoms of deficiency, such as anemia.

Bacterial vaginosis is caused by an imbalance in the healthy bacteria naturally present in the vagina and, possibly, in the digestive tract. Lactobacillus acidophilus helps in rebalancing this bacteria and is considered to be among the best homeopathic cures for bacterial vaginosis. Supplements found in health food stores or purchased from online vendors are taken orally, but some women have also experienced success in treating infection by inserting acidophilus suppositories directly into the vagina. Plain, unsweetened yogurt also contains Lactobacillus acidophilus and may be taken orally or inserted into the vagina. Women who have combined this natural remedy with hydrogen peroxide douching and folic acid supplementation as a three-pronged approach.

Inserting a tampon that has been soaked in tea tree oil is also commonly believed to be among the best homeopathic cures for bacterial vaginosis. After several days of this treatment, many women report that the symptom of a foul smelling discharge disappears. Goldenseal tablets commonly found in most health food stores are also believed to be a good natural cure. Many women have also found success in reducing the amount of unhealthy bacteria located in the vagina by using garlic cloves as a vaginal suppository and replacing a clove with a fresh one every few hours for several days until symptoms disappear.

I was doubtful about this remedy in the beginning, but the tea tree oil remedy really works for bacterial vaginosis. The trick is diluting the oil with a carrier oil to avoid irritation. Tea tree oil is a powerful antiseptic and antibacterial but when used undiluted, it will irritate vaginal tissues which are very sensitive. I diluted tea tree oil with olive oil, dipped a tampon in it and inserted it vaginally for several hours a day. It cured me in less than a week.

I don't know if it will work for everyone though because my sister used the same remedy and was not too pleased. She had more luck with eating raw garlic and cleaning the vaginal area with witch hazel.

@SteamLouis-- I'm not a fan of douching either. I tried a hydrogen peroxide and water douche for bacterial vaginosis. It did relieve the bad odor and other symptoms but then I developed a yeast infection. I think the yeast infection was due to douching so I don't think that this is the best homeopathic cure for bacterial vaginosis.

I ended up curing my vaginosis with antibiotics and lots of probiotic supplements. Eating probiotic yogurt every day and using probiotic supplements vaginally is a great way to fight the bacteria naturally.

When I had bacterial vaginosis, my doctor told me not to douche as douching upsets the pH balance and flora of the vagina. Does this not apply for peroxide and water douches?
