What are Some Ways I Can Regain Trust? |
||||||||||
Trust is the foundation of any relationship, whether it be with your boss or a loved one. It can be quite difficult to get back once it’s lost, but it’s not impossible. While it takes some effort, there are some key things to try that may help you regain trust after it has been lost. Understanding why the trust was lost in the first place is vital. If you can’t fully comprehend what led to it happening, then it may be difficult to fully fix the issue and to keep it from occurring again. People may be more prone to let their trust be regained if the other person is fully aware of the extent of what was done in the first place. Apologies are crucial when trying to regain trust. The other person will most likely need to hear a heartfelt apology in order to start allowing the relationship to be repaired. If possible, think out what is going to be said before you speak the words. It may help the apology to sound more genuine and heartfelt. Another way to regain trust is to prove yourself to the person whose trust you lost. It can be very difficult to believe in someone again if there are strong feelings that the same errors are going to be made. Whatever was done to lead up to the trust being lost, do the opposite and opt for doing what the person wants you to do. If they see you making every effort to not make the same mistakes, you may have a better chance of getting back their trust. In order to regain trust you should give it some time, not push things, and not expect things to change overnight. For some people, being able to trust someone else is monumental and once that trust is broken, it’s going to take time to put back together. If everything possible has been done to remedy the situation, then all that can be done is to wait and see if the other person will feel ready to trust you again. When you have a person’s trust, it should be valued and treasured. Once you regain trust, extra precautions should be made to ensure that it’s not lost again. In some cases, it may take a lot more effort to regain trust then it ever took to get in the first place. If the person is important, then you should do whatever possible to get it back and make things right again.
