@alex94: This is a recipe that I got from my great-grandmother who married a Cherokee Indian. I know this is an Indian recipe but I’m not sure what the name of it is.
You will need the following ingredients: 2 cups Poha (rice flakes), 1 small chopped onion, 1 Tbsp. olive oil, 1 tsp. black mustard seed, ½ tsp. salt, 2 Tbsp. turmeric powder, and 2-3 bay leaves (for flavor).
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil. Add the chopped onion, salt, bay leaves, and mustard seeds. Cook on medium heat until the onion becomes tender. Reduce the heat to low.
Put the 2 cups of rice flakes in a colander and run under tap water for about 2 minutes. Make sure the flakes are soaked. Strain completely. The flakes will start to plump up. Add the rice flakes to the skillet. Heat the mixture for about 5 minutes. Remove the bay leaves before serving.
