Die-off symptoms refer to sometimes painful effects associated with the body ridding itself of infection. These symptoms occur most often during a candida detox program. When candida yeast organisms inside the body die en masse, the body may struggle to eliminate the toxins and symptoms like muscle pain, diarrhea, clouded thinking, and headache can occur. This reaction is also known as a Herxheimer reaction, and it can also occur when large colonies of bacteria or other fungi die off inside the body. Candida die-off signs usually last until the yeast infection within the body is completely resolved, though they can be somewhat mitigated with proper self-care.

Candida die-off symptoms typically affect those who are following a candida detox program or diet. As the program successfully kills off the yeast infection, more and more dead yeast organisms build up in the body. These dead organisms release toxins as they decay. These toxins can overwhelm the liver and cause symptoms that are often similar to the symptoms of the yeast infection itself.

Other symptoms of this condition include fatigue, sweating, chills, nausea, and diarrhea. Headache, dizziness, constipation, skin breakouts, and body aches are common. A patient may also suffer psychological symptoms, including depression, anxiety, and irritability. Sore throat, gas, and bloating may occur.

Candida die-off symptoms typically last until the yeast infection has been resolved. Those following a candida detox program are usually encouraged to persist with the program in spite of any symptoms they may experience. The symptoms are often considered a sign that the program is working. They may last from a few days to several months, depending on the severity and duration of the yeast infection, the strength of the anti-fungal agents used in the detox program, and the person's overall state of health.

Those who wish to mitigate candida die-off symptoms are often advised to drink plenty of water, often as much as a gallon a day. Soaking in a bath of baking soda or Epsom salts for 15 minutes to one hour daily can help to draw the toxins from the body. Exercise and saunas can also help the body purify itself of toxins through perspiration.

Herbal supplements can help many cope with candida die-off symptoms. Vitamin C supplements can help support the kidneys to remove toxins from the body more quickly. Psyllium husk fiber or bentonite clay supplements can help absorb toxins in the digestive tract. Milk thistle supplements can support the liver during the detoxification process. Peppermint oil capsules or peppermint herbal tea can help soothe gastrointestinal upset.

Wow, I didn't know it was possible for candida to cause all this! I have had a vaginal yeast infection before, but it didn't affect my entire body.

As soon as I finished taking my medication, the infection and its symptoms were gone. The symptoms mentioned in the article sound way scarier than what I experienced. Of course, I didn't have yeast all in my system that had to die off slowly.
