Disneyland is known as the "Happiest Place on Earth" for good reason. Generations of families have enjoyed Disneyland for 50 years and will certainly do so for many years to come. Planning your trip to Disneyland can be part of the fun, and good planning will only make your Disney experience more memorable.

Disneyland is located in Anaheim, California. Unless you already live in the area and know the highways, driving can be confusing and frustrating, especially during rush hour. Fortunately, Disneyland has several theme hotels of its own, and there are many more hotels close by that cater specifically to Disneyland vacationers.

If you choose to stay in one of the Disneyland hotels, you'll have easy access to the park, as well as the Downtown Disney shopping area and the Disney's California Adventure park. The nearby hotels usually have free park shuttle service, but it's best to check before you make your reservations. A park shuttle gives you quick access to the park, without the added hassle and expense of parking.

It's a good idea to check the Disneyland website before your trip for specials. Disneyland often has anniversary specials, seasonal events, and ticket packages that can save you time and money, especially if you'll be visiting the park more than one day, or if you plan to visit both Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure park. There are even ticket packages that include admission to other Southern California attractions, such as Universal Studios and the San Diego Zoo.

When visiting Disneyland, it is important to pace your trip. The Disneyland park is large, and everyone can get tired walking too much, especially children. Sunscreen is a must for any day in the park, but there are many shaded areas where you can relax and enjoy the scenery as well. Plan breaks during the day for food and rest, and take advantage of the transportation options within the park, including the Disneyland Railroad and the Horse-Drawn Streetcars on Main Street USA.

Some Disneyland visitors enjoy sampling the culinary treats within the park, while others feel that taking a break during the day is a better plan. If you choose to eat inside the park, there are a wide variety of choices, from simple hamburgers, to pasta and salads, to fine dining. If you need a break from the hustle and bustle of the park, Downtown Disney has many great restaurants, or you can stop back at your hotel to order a pizza and take a relaxing dip in the pool.

Disneyland has been thrilling and entertaining children of all ages for years, and they really know how to show their guests a good time. Your trip is sure to be fun and memorable, and with a little planning and preparation, you will have more time to relax and enjoy the magic of Disneyland.

Subway11- I agree with you. It is always best to plan some breaks during the vacation. I just wanted to add that I love Disneyland and always wondered what the Disneyland Paris was like.

I always wanted to plan a trip over there to see if it is different than the Disneyland in California. It is supposed to have almost fifty attractions and attracts a little over fifteen million visitors a year.

I just want to add that planning some downtime is recommended because the writer makes a great point about walking large distances in the hot sun.

Most children become tired and cranky and will need to rest. Don’t try to do everything at once. It is best to rest at the hotel or even enjoy some time in the hotel pool in order to cool down and relax.

Buying the park hopper tickets are the best value because you can go in and out of the parks and not have to pay additional admission.
