Some phones, especially older phones which use nickel cadmium, may suffer from a "memory effect," which will cause the phone to only charge to a a certain level, no matter how much time it stays on the charger. In such cases, the key is to fully discharge the battery and then fully charge it again. Other cell phone batteries do not have this type of limitation.

Replacement batteries can cost anywhere from approximately $20 US Dollars (USD) to close to $75 USD, depending on the model and type. Generally speaking, the more expensive batteries are made with better technologies and tend to last longer.
