Planning a wedding on a budget is no problem if you don't want the earth! I can't believe all these huge shindigs I see at weddings these days. It's unreal, all the things that are involved in planning a wedding. Some of these brides don't need wedding budget planners, they need accountants! I can't imagine spending that kind of money on a wedding.

I don't necessarily think everyone should just go to the courthouse, but having these lavish parties because of some unrealistic expectations is ridiculous, to me. A married couple will be in debt soon enough. No use starting before you have to!

You could use an online worksheet, but if you don't have a huge blowout, you can do what I did and just get a legal pad.

I put my budget at the top and wrote down everything we were paying for: my dress (with alterations), veil, shoes, groom's tux, flowers, church rental, invitations (including postage), officiants' fees and photographer. We had an afternoon reception and a dear friend did the cakes and simple refreshments as her gift to me.

If you keep everything simple, you don't need a massive spreadsheet to keep track of everything. In any case, the trick is to write down all the costs, add them up and see where they are with regards to your budget.
