There are so many homemade face scrub recipes available that finding the best one for your oily skin may take some experimenting. In general, you want a face scrub that will remove dirt and excess oil without irritating the face. If acne and other inflammation is present, a face scrub with anti-inflammatory ingredients is a good choice to reduce the inflammation. A homemade face scrub for oily skin can be used on a daily basis to keep the oil from clogging the pores.

Oatmeal is a gentle, yet effective cleanser that removes the oil and dirt without further irritating the skin. Red clay and lemon juice are also very effective against oily skin. Honey is not only effective at cleansing the face, but it also soothes and relieves inflammation due to acne and other skin problems. Two more effective ingredients are coffee grounds and tea tree, as they are able to eliminate harmful bacteria that form around acne. A good homemade face scrub for oily skin does not have to have all these ingredients, but should have some similar ingredients with similar effects.

Some oily skin face scrubs might help with oily skin, but might not be suitable in cases when acne is present. Therefore, always check the recipe to see whether it is suitable for acne as well. If you are not sure, try the ingredients on a small area first, preferably behind the ear, before applying the scrub to the whole face. This will also help you determine whether you are allergic to any of the ingredients. It is best to avoid a face scrub if you experience any type of allergic reaction to any of its ingredients.

Always apply the face scrub gently and in a circular motion to avoid skin irritation. Depending on the ingredients and how much time you have, most face scrubs can be left on for about 10 to 20 minutes. After washing the scrub off with warm water, rinse the face with cold water to close the pores.

One of the benefits of a homemade face scrub for oily skin is that it is inexpensive to make, yet can be just as effective as many commercial face scrubs. In addition, homemade scrubs are natural and free from harsh chemicals that can potentially irritate the skin. You can also purchase natural face scrubs that have the same cleansing benefits as homemade face scrubs.

I like to make a homemade face scrub for my oily skin that consists of buttermilk and sugar. Buttermilk is soothing and contains enzymes that are good for your skin, while sugar provides an exfoliating action to the mix.

All you have to do is mix about about one half cup of buttermilk with a spoonful of sugar. Rub in on your face in circular movements to clean and exfoliate your skin. Finally, rinse it off your face with warm water.

To complete your facial following the use of your homemade face scrub, follow up with a light moisturizer that is formulated for oily skin.

I can't imagine putting honey on my face, but I do like to make homemade face scrub with oatmeal and plain yogurt. The combination has a scrubbing effect yet is it also very soothing. It also does not have oils so it leaves oily skin feeling refreshed and clean.

This natural face scrub is very easy to make and use. Just mix several spoonfuls of dried oats with several spoonfuls of yogurt and rub it onto your face. Leave it on for about 20 minutes to allow it to soak into your skin, then rinse thoroughly.
