When choosing a flavored lip gloss, it's best to pick one from a well-recognized cosmetics brand. Lip glosses are relatively inexpensive anyway, so getting good value for your money is better than buying a bargain brand with cheap ingredients. Remember that even though lip gloss is quite sheer, it does still color the lips; if you want to apply it over your lipstick to add shine, make sure the resulting combination will be pleasant. Also, think about the scent a flavored lip gloss is likely to give off to others, even if it's subtle.

There are some unusual lip gloss flavors on the market today. These can be fun to try, but just like wearing the proper outfit for an occasion, your flavored lip gloss should also be something you think about. For example, wearing a beer-flavored gloss to a job interview may make the interviewer think you've been drinking alcohol if he or she gets a slight whiff of it during the meeting. Most people aren't likely to think that an alcohol odor would be coming from a beauty product. Even if someone did, wearing an alcohol-scented product in the workplace isn't likely to be thought of as appropriate anyway.

Choosing lip gloss shades close to natural lip colors such as pinks, reds, melons and neutrals is usually best, especially if you want to layer glosses over lipstick. For instance, lemon or lime flavored lip gloss may smell wonderful and fresh, yet the yellow or green coloring could give skin a sickly tone. Lip gloss colors should compliment your skin tone as well as your lipstick colors if you'll be wearing it over them.

Another important consideration when looking for your best flavored lip gloss is its application method. Some glosses have a sponge tip applicator, while others are roll-on styles. Some people prefer these types of flavored lip glosses to the kinds that require a finger dipped in to apply the product. An applicator may give neater lines to help avoid the unattractive look of shiny gloss that extends past the lip line.

The best lip glosses have natural ingredients rather than dyes and artificial flavors. They also typically contain quality moisturizers. Olive oil, aloe vera, vitamin E and beeswax are all quality natural ingredients that tend to be very soothing and moisturizing on lips. Look for flavored lip gloss with natural essential oils or fruit essences, rather than artificial flavors. Essential oils, or essences, are concentrated plant materials from leaves, bark, stems or flowers.

I just saw bacon flavored lip gloss on an online store! Would any of you actually dare to wear that?

I wouldn't! I like bacon in my stomach, not on my lips!

@turkay1-- Of course they do!

My friend actually sells handmade lip balm and lip gloss. All her products are natural and made with moisturizers like beeswax, shea butter, cocoa butter and coconut oil. She has unscented ones for people with allergies, but most of them are scented. She even has a candy flavored lip gloss that I love.

You don't have to buy bad products just for the scent. You should look at handmade, organic and natural lip glosses.

Do natural lip balms and glosses have flavors?

I use a lip gloss all the time, but I think I'm using the wrong one because my lips are always dry and they always crack in winter. I think I need a lip gloss with better ingredients, but I also love the flavor of my current one-- it's a peach flavored lip gloss.
