How Do I Choose the Best Droid™ Phone?

To choose the best Droid™ phone, you should consider the types of features you are looking for and ensure you choose a phone that can work with your wireless provider and network. One of the easiest ways to ensure you choose a phone that is compatible with your network is to purchase one through your provider, though you can just as easily purchase your phone from a store location and choose one that is compatible with your network. You should look for any features you want in your phone, including compatibility with 4G technology, a touch screen, keyboard, and camera.

A Droid™ phone is a type of mobile phone that is able to connect to and access software available through the Android™ network and provides a number of “smart phone” features. One of the first things you should look for is that the phone is compatible with your wireless provider. You may be able to simply purchase a Droid™ phone through your provider, which ensures compatibility. It is typically just as easy, however, to purchase a phone through a retail company and ensure compatibility, so you should look for the best value.

Beyond this initial concern with compatibility, there are also a number of features and options you should keep in mind when choosing a phone. Any Droid™ phone you choose should be designed to connect to the Android Market™. You might look into whether the phone utilizes 3G or 4G technology, as this can have an impact on its functions and longevity. While 3G technology was sufficient in the first decade of the 21st century, many phone networks and devices were switching to 4G throughout 2011, which means a 4G phone is likely to provide you with greater longevity.

You should also consider any additional features and functions you may want in a Droid™ phone. For example, consider the size of the screen and choose a phone large enough for your vision needs or preferences. Many phones also include a touch screen that can make navigation of features easier.

Any Droid™ phone you consider should be easy for you to use as you see fit. If you often send text messages, for example, then you should choose a phone with a touch screen keyboard or secondary keyboard that best suits your needs. You should also consider the camera if you like using your phone to take pictures, and choose the highest pixel resolution possible. The phone you choose should provide you with the features you want today, as well as possibilities for additional features in the future.

Here's something else to keep in mind -- when you do go through the time consuming, sometimes confusing process of picking an Android based phone, get ready to see one you like better almost immediately after you purchase yours. Competition between companies making Android based hardware is fierce and, as such, new models come out at an alarming rate.

The best advice is to pick something and just realize it will be yesterday's news in a hurry. That's just the way it goes and the phone that you decided to purchase will probably serve you well for at least a couple of years.
