How do I Choose the Best Ceiling Fan Remote?

G. Wiesen

To choose the best ceiling fan remote for your needs you should consider the type of ceiling fan you already have and any features you may want on the remote control. Since most remotes will only work with certain models, one of the first things you should look for is that your potential remote will work with the type of ceiling fan you have. You should also consider various features that may be available on a ceiling fan remote, such as controls for fan speed and power and any lights.

A ceiling fan remote controls the various functions of a ceiling fan remotely. This means that by using such a remote you can turn your fan on and off, adjust the speed of the fan, and control other features as well from a distance. If you are looking for a remote control for your ceiling fan, you should first be sure you find a remote that will work with the model fan you already have. This will help you narrow your choices and allow you to focus on the features you want.

One feature you should consider for a ceiling fan remote is how it allows you to control the various aspects of your fan. This typically includes turning your ceiling fan on and off and adjusting the speed. Some remotes may only be able to cycle around a few preset speeds, such as high, medium, and low, while other remotes and fans can allow you to adjust the speed to different percentages. This type of ceiling fan remote will give you greater control over the fan, and typically has a small display screen on the remote that relays speed control information.

You should also look for a ceiling fan remote that will allow you to control other aspects of your ceiling fan. If you have lights on the fan, for example, you should look for a remote that will allow you to turn those lights on and off and potentially control their brightness as well. You may also be able to purchase a ceiling fan remote that allows you to set an automatic condition for when the ceiling fan should turn on or off. This may be based on a timer, or you may be able to set a room temperature that will affect whether the fan comes on or turns off on its own.

I agree with the last paragraph in this article. You need a ceiling fan with a remote control that lets you do everything. I seldom change the speed of my fan anyway, so as long as the remote control device can turn the power to the fan on and off then I am set as far as the speed goes.

The bigger need for me is having a remote that will turn the lights on and off and increase and decrease the light levels. Sometimes I like the room brighter than at other times, and some times I don't use the ceiling fan light at all. It is such a headache to have to keep reaching up to adjust the light, especially for me since I am short and can hardly reach the chain that turns the lights on and off and changes the settings.

When we moved into our house we knew we had some electrical issues that needed repairing. We bought the house as-is and some of the electrical work was not up to code. One of the issues was we couldn't figure out why the ceiling fan in the den wasn't working. We pulled the chains that controlled the speed of the fan and the light fixture, but nothing happened. We also checked the wall switch that controlled the power to the fan. Again, the fan wouldn't work.

When we finally got an electrician to come out, he looked at the fan and told us the problem was that the remote wasn't working. He disconnected the remote and told us we could buy another one, but until then we could operate the fan manually. This is fine with us. We had never used a ceiling fan remote anyway, so this will work until we find the remote we want.
