Body spray can serve a number of purposes. Before you make a purchase you should consider which options will meet your expectations. Doing so involves considering things such as fragrance and ingredients.
For most people, the first thing that will be considered when choosing body spray is the scent. Although this may be reasonable, it can lead to disappointment if you do not consider other things as well. It is important to know that people have varying skin types and pH balances, or skin acidity. Due to this, a single scent can smell differently on one person than it does on another.
You may be in the habit of testing your body spray by spraying it in the air or onto a card. Doing so allows you to know how it smells. It does not, however, indicate how that scent will smell on you. When you test a body spray, it is best to test it on your skin. Before you buy it, you may want to wear the scent for a few minutes so you can see what the resulting scent will be.
There is another reason to sample body spray on your skin. This is because if you plan to wear it, you need to make sure that you can wear it. Some people are sensitive to certain ingredients. Even if you have not shown sensitivity to the body sprays you purchased in the past, it is best to make sure you can tolerate any you purchase in the future.
You may notice that many body sprays are also available as perfumes. The difference between the two is the amount of potion included that gives the fragrance its unique scent. Body sprays normally have only a small amount of that potion. This means that the scent may not last as long as you expect.
To prevent this type of disappointment, it is best to buy body spray that is part of a range of products. Try to find those that have body powder, lotion, and after shave available in the same scent. You are likely to experience longer lasting scents if you use multiple products.
If you are purchasing body spray for underarm use, make sure it is designed for that. If you do not, it may cause irritation and it may not be effective. Body sprays designed for underarm use generally have the words “deodorant” or “antiperspirant” written somewhere on the container.
@croydon - I know plenty of people who refuse to use antiperspirant sprays because they think it's unnatural to block the sweat coming out.
Either they think it will harm your skin, or that it can harm your body systems by blocking a natural process.
I use it myself and have not had any problems, but I can see their point. It does seem a bit dangerous to stop sweat, but generally I don't find them that strong.
If I'm working out at the gym, they don't seem to work all that well, so I guess they can't be that dangerous either.
There is a big difference between body spray, antiperspirant and deodorant.
Antiperspirant actually stops you from sweating. I think it mildly paralyzes your pores so that you can't sweat.
Deodorant doesn't stop you from sweating but it kills the bacteria or stops them from making a smell for body odor.
And body spray is just a nice smelling spray you can spritz on yourself, but it doesn't do anything about body odor.
It's important to know the difference, as you might buy body spray thinking it is going to help you stop sweating or smelling during the day, but in reality it just adds a nice smell to the rest.
You might want to try the body spray before you buy it in order to make sure it suits you. But don't buy it right away. Sometimes it will smell differently after a few minutes, or even after an hour.
I would go home, and ask if other people can smell it and whether it suits you, after a few hours. Remember that since you've been wearing it, it might be difficult for you to smell after a while.
Asking someone you trust to know what suits you, and what you like is a better way of knowing for sure if it is good on you. After you find a good one, try to remember it.
