After deciding what supplements you would like to take, finding a supplier that can provide a safe and quality capsules should be your next step. Safety should be a key concern as some manufacturers have been shown to use inert ingredients to add bulk or enhance appearance that can cause adverse reactions.

Some antioxidants, like vitamins C and E, can be found in any multivitamin produced by a reputable company. Antioxidants are usually marketed for some expected benefit such as anti-aging, or to boost the immune system. They may be made from various combinations of enzymes, vitamins, minerals or other compounds that are labeled as antioxidants.

While antioxidants may be found in foods naturally, their concentration in antioxidant capsules eliminates the need to store and prepare the foods themselves. Antioxidants that you would find in teas or botanicals may best be provided by consuming the items directly, but most can be found in capsules if you find the taste or texture of the food unpleasant. The size of the capsules will be an important consideration, especially if you find swallowing larger pills difficult.

It is important to remember that antioxidant capsules need to be manufactured to the same rigid standards as any drug. The producer of the supplement should exercise quality control to ensure that the purity and quantity of the active ingredients produce the desired effect. This is why it is important to deal only with suppliers who have a reputation for producing antioxidant capsules which do not contain ingredients that can cause harmful side effects. Read the labels of the supplements that you are planning to purchase. If they are only available online, a legitimate company will make the information available on its website.

You may choose to shop online or purchase antioxidant capsules from an off-line pharmacy or health shop. Once you find a vendor who can supply antioxidant capsules that are wholesome, you want to be able to find the most convenient way to obtain them. Lesser known or less popular supplements may require the use of an online retailer in order to obtain them, but many are available.

Nutritional supplements, including antioxidant capsules, can interact with medications and other supplements that you already take. The addition of supplements or changes in the amount you take should be reported to your doctor or health care provider. You should also monitor and track any physical changes you notice as these may be a sign of a negative reaction.

Are there any antioxidant tablets or capsules which are not made from gelatin?

I now follow a Vegan diet and I cannot have anything with animal ingredients or by-products. I found out recently that capsules used for medicines and supplements are made from gelatin which is derived from animals.

Are there any antioxidant capsule options that are okay for Vegans? Or do I need to look for tablets? I'm not sure if antioxidant supplementation is even available in tablet form though. All the ones I've seen so far have been in capsule form.

Any ideas?

@feruze-- I completely agree with you. That's why I try not to buy these things online because I think that there are way too many product online and it can be difficult to pick out which ones are the safest and the best antioxidant supplements.

When I buy it from well-known supplement stores, all-natural stores and pharmacies, I feel like I'm less likely to face unwanted side-effects due to vague ingredients.

Of course, a lot of this depends on the individual too. It's wise to check out consumer reviews online and maybe check out the manufacturer website to see if it looks dependable.

These are really good points to consider. The other points that I pay attention to is if the antioxidant capsules are made with organic and all-natural ingredients. Organic products will always have the "organic certified" label on them.

The product website or label should also specify what exactly the ingredients are and where the main ingredient comes from.

I have had some negative experiences with supplements before where the manufacturer refused to supply the ingredient information or information about where the ingredients were imported from or produced at. This is not the way that trust-able manufacturers behave. If everything is being done correctly, then there is no reason why this information would not be provided.

I'm really careful about these things when it comes to supplements because unsafe ingredients can be really dangerous to health.
