Anti-aging medical treatments can be broken down into two groups: surgical and non surgical. Each treatment targets one or more specific cosmetic issues such as wrinkles, age spots, uneven skin tone, spider veins, or saggy skin. In order to choose the best anti-aging medical treatments choose a treatment that will target the specific issues you have. In addition to whether you are willing to undergo surgery, you should consider recovery time, the level of pain involved and possible side effects.

Anti-aging medical treatments that require surgery are more invasive than non-surgical treatments and are normally used when drastic results are required. Surgical anti-aging treatments include eye bag removal, brow lifts, face lifts, neck lifts and fat injections. Most of the surgical treatments can be completed in one and a half to three hours. An overnight stay can be expected if you have treatments such as a neck lift, face lift or brow lift. Surgical treatments entail longer recovery periods than non-surgical treatments, and it may take some time to see the final result.

Not everyone is comfortable with the idea of undergoing surgery, and non-surgical options would be more appropriate for those individuals. Non-surgical treatments include plasma or laser skin resurfacing, laser skin tightening and rejuvenation, LED (Light Emitting Diode) light therapy, skin re-sculpting, chemical peels, dermabrasion, dermal fillers, injections, and NoTox™ treatment.

It is important to remember that just because a treatment is non-surgical it does not mean it is pain free. Non-surgical treatments can include ablative treatments which damage the top layers of the skin to trigger the growth of rejuvenated skin. Ablative treatments include laser resurfacing, chemical peels, and dermabrasion. These treatments often involve medium to high levels of pain and longer recovery periods. These treatments are effective on medium to deep wrinkles and for scarring or sun damage on the hands or facial area.

Non-ablative treatments include plasma resurfacing, laser tightening and rejuvenation, LED light therapy, and skin tightening and re-sculpting. These anti-aging medical treatments can be used to reduce or remove fine lines, wrinkles and blemishes and to improve skin tone and clarity. Skin tightening or re-sculpting is claimed to lift or tighten skin without the need for surgery.

Some anti-aging medical treatments that are administered via injection include dermal fillers, and wrinkle relaxing injections. Dermal fillers are used to add bulk to an area of the face or to plump out wrinkles. One well-known example of wrinkle relaxing injections would be Botox®. This kind of treatment only works on motion lines and is often used in conjunction with dermal fillers. NoTox™ works in a similar way to Botox®, but it uses radio waves to block the nerves.
