@MrsPramm - The thing is, often dental emergencies come from things like infection, which I have heard that doctors will occasionally refuse to treat, not because of a lack of insurance, but because they consider it to be dental work.
And an extremely painful tooth is an emergency, even if there wasn't any violence. It hurts so much it can incapacitate someone.
What really annoys me is that emergency surgery can be really expensive, but preventative care shouldn't be that expensive. If people were able to get free preventative care in the first place, they wouldn't need to be seeking out free emergency care which ends up costing everyone more money.
